Is there a government agency to contact for this?
In short no, you cannot live on crown land permanently. You can spend time on it (IE: boondock camping) but to build a structure etc, is illegal and called squatting. Many however do it even for years, but depending on how remote, you will likely be removed & made to remove any structures. The only use you can legally get to use crown land is livestock grazing and timber harvesting.
