We are looking to have our garage roof re-shingled and have eavestroughs put on.
We're also looking to have the eavestrough's on the house reversed to drain on the opposite side of our house as they currently drain into our driveway and we have had some basement condensation problems along that wall as a result. Ideally we'd like to have them drain a good distance from the foundation.

Install two gutter de icing cables, 80 ft each on a 1 1/2 story 1940's home. The install involves just one side of the home. There are two lower roof gutters separated by an upper level dormer gutter. Three downspouts connect and run out to the backyard. Electrical outlets already exist. Install cable in the gutter and downspouts only. The contractor can also replace three outdoor receptacles with GFCI type outlets.
The estimate should include a breakdown of parts and labour. The cable lengths were my estimates. The contractor might have to see the configuration of the gutters and downspouts and suggest different lengths. The upper gutter is 17ft with a 9 ft downspout connection with one of the lower roof gutters and another downspout of 9 ft. Both lower gutters are 16 ft. One cable is intended to do these two gutters since one electrical outlet is near the front of the upper gutter. The other lower gutter is conneted to about 40 ft of downspout and connecting with the other downspouts near the center of the house that run out to the backyard. Each cable has to double back through each lower gutter. I can send pictures.
The roof leak is a little hit and miss. On days when we get only light amounts of rain there isn't any visible leak. When we get a significant amount of rain it leaks and it usually smells when it leaks. the leak is at the crack across the kitchen ceiling right near the left end of the kitchen counter about 1 to 1.5 feet out from the counter. The floor is starting to have problems where the leak is of course there's other problems with the floor to the right of where the leak is so this could turn into a larger problem with the subfloor deteriorating. I usually put a bucket under the spot where the leak is if I know it's going to rain.
One thing I noticed outside is that the eaves troughs aren't nailed with long enough nails I found a nail on the front sidewalk right under where it's hanging low. The nail is only 7 or 8 inches long not 10 or 12 inches long.
2.5 story brick home requires new Eaves Troughs on either side of home, plus a single story kitchen addition. Would like eaves troughs with a screen/cover so we don't have to clean them out. Dark "Iron ore" colour preferred.
MAY require new wood (fascia?) behind the eaves troughs.
Cap off weeping tile entry and divert with trough instead.
I will be away until September 4 - will not be able to respond to quote offers until that time. Thank you!
Laura
Our rain gutters and downpipes need to be cleared of debris.
We have five down pipes, and a straight foward ridge roof; however, the back of the property is three stories high and the front a good 2 stories - the rear will require 40' ladders; access to the rear of the property is restricted by close by tree growth.
We would like screening to be fitted to the gutters to minimize build up of further debris.
Down pipes appear to be completely blocked.
Contractor should carry full liability insurance.
A squirrel has made a hole in my eaves trough and through the fascia.
I am booking a wildlife control company ASAP to seal off the attic from rodents.
Need a repair of the hole in my roof (so water and rodents don't get in) and patch the eaves trough.
Please note: This is a 2.5 story home. The hole is located on the side of the house, at the front right corner.
We own a 2-story home built in 2005. Over the past five years we’ve had seven of the corners of our eavestrough start to leak. Of those seven, three of them are at the second story level and the remaining four are at the first story level.
The eavestroughs are in great condition otherwise so we're looking for a contractor who can re-seal the corners that are leaking.
Thanks
I have just recently purchased a home south of Centre Mall in Hamilton. The home had vinyl siding done on bottom half of home only, they never finished top part. The top is cedar shake currently and the botton in fairly new cream colour vinyl siding. The top is missing flashing and eaves. The house is a 1-1/2 story approximately 1000 square feet. I am looking to finish the job, matching the exisiting siding, with eaves corrected to take water away from house. The house is currently leaking around new windows and was leaking in livingroom but we temporarily sprayed the expanding foam where flashing is missing which is temporarily working.
