Open to ideas just really need to secure the perimeter so we don't have to worry about the dog getting loose.
Would be nice if it was a push and latch from behind as I need to be able to fit me and my bike through or the misses with the one arm dog walk.
Open to either chianlink or wood although wood would be preferred.
I have several jobs that I would like to include in a single project if possible. I have owned the property for 9 years and inherited the issues related to the repair/replacement aspects of the project. I currently have a driveway and retaining wall on the east border of my property that are both failing. I also have a main floor deck and back deck from my walk out basement that are deteriorating. I would like to replace/repair all three components together as they overlap on the southeast side of the property and think the fence/retaining wall could be combined with the supporting structure for a new, elevated deck off the main floor. The elevated deck would allow for a covered patio below at the exit from the walk out basement.
I have already removed the fence panels over the failing retaining wall but some of the original posts remain. I will not see the retaining wall from my property so just looking for a functional, low cost solution. my deck design has the support posts for the deck at or close to the property line and suspect could be completed at the same time through a single excavation.
Driveway: The existing driveway is a single lane driveway approx 70' long terminating in the main floor deck and stairs to the lower lever of the backyard. It is asphalt and has a few "sinkhole" areas adjacent to the railway tie retaining wall on its eastern border which suggests some drainage/foundation issues. I am looking for a cost effective replacement for the driveway - and this section of retaining wall if needed. I would also consider widening the street end to 2 lanes if reasonable and allowable by the city. NOTE: the city is planning on adding sidewalks to my street in the near future, the side of the street and final position of the sidewalk are still TBD but may effect planning, timing and possibly the city would take care of some of the surface area..
Retaining wall and Fence: A 4' high railway tie retaining wall supports a section of the east border of the backyard and is failing. I have attached images of the current state and just looking for a cost effective fix as it doesn't really impact my property (but is apparently my responsibility). The plan for the new deck would have the support posts (and possibly stairs) along the same line so hopeful they could be combined for cost and logistic efficiencies.
Deck: I currently have 2 poorly built and deteriorating decks, one at the south end of the driveway, 4 steps below the side door, and one (covered) deck off the walk out basement door. I have planned one deck at the height of the side door (ie 4 steps above the driveway) that would wrap around the south side of the house. The current plan is approx 750sq ft of deck, and the CAD planning software I used suggests 35 posts (which seems like a lot to me). Images from the CAD app attached here (ignore material details, those are still tbd).
Patio: The raised deck would provide a space for a 'covered' patio below at the level of the yard. I am thinking stamped concrete or some other simple surface would suffice there but would likely tie it to the driveway surface for economy of scale. This project could be completed at a later date depending on overall project costs and potential savings of doing them together.
I am not married to the current plan and open to other options/suggestions but see a huge advantage of having a deck at main floor/kitchen level.
New House - Side and Back Fences needed
Std Lot = 49 foot wide and 114 foot deep (slight slope to back)
a) wooden - (to code) to be installed
b) two Entrance gates (don't have to be metal) as wood gates to match the fence would do
Install time = Late Spring, early summer (after the landscapers are done with yard work)
We are looking at a standard wood fence about 56 feet long plus gate and for the concrete we would like a couple different quotes based on the areas we are looking at. Potentially a walkway the length of the house (58 feet and then one or two patio areas in the back 12x12 and 10x17).
Evenings and Wednesday/Sundays work better for us for quotes.
Thanks,
Tara & Dave
2 smaller projects, looking for someone able to do both:
1) Finish 3rd side of a backyard fence, approximately 50 feet long, plus a gate enclosure on this side (connecting to the house, ~ 6 feet), and the opposite side of the house where a final 6 feet length to fully enclose the yard is also required.
2) Build a custom shed, approximately 7'x7'x6', built level to our walkout basement, and beneath our 2nd floor deck. Fully enclosed to allow storage of yard equipment (lawnmover, pressure washer, snow blower), tools, tires.
I am looking at building a fence in London Ontario. Simple 5' high Pressure Treated, 8 foot sections to 4x4 posts, posts 4' into the ground. Looking for your pricing please to put in the post holes and depending on price, to finish the job. What kind of costs am I looking at? What would be the price for the holes and labour to construct.
Thanks
I recently bought a house and was wondering how much it would cost to install fence posts along the back of the yard, as well as 4 or 5 along the front of the yard, to close it off. There would be a gate at the front and one at the back. I'm not sure if that makes a difference, but it may.
I was thinking chain link, but I can roll the fencing myself so only the posts would be needed.
The yard is 38 feet across the back but only 3-5 yards are needed to close off the front.
Thanks,
Andy
I recently moved into a home where the perimeter of the backyard is fenced. However, both sides of my home are fully open and no privacy. I am looking to close the gaps on the two sides of the front of my house. The left side of the home is only about a 4 to 5 foot gap. The right side of my home has a detached garage kitty corner to my house. I'd like to put a fence and gate up a this section. Its about 15 feet or so and may need some angles.
I have posted a picture which gives a general idea. In the picture, if you look to the right side, you will see the gap past the gardens where this needs a small area of fence. On the left side of the pic, you can see the garage and side of house that I'd like to fill with some fence and gate. I have a general idea of what I'd like but perhaps a contractor may have some ideas. I was thinking wooden fence/gate.
I need to replace the fence at the side of my yard and a small section that turns the corner to the front. Currently it is 4X4 posts with a standard staggered fence board fence. We would like 6X6 posts and a full on privacy fence that is 7 feet tall. Nothing too fancy, just want it to be private. There are 12 posts in total as well as one lagged to the side of the house. I would like to keep the cost reasonable, but want the fence to be done right and last for years to come.
I need a quote (ball park estimate) on the cost to build a 6 foot high pressure treated wood fence along three property lines, with 2 - 4' w x 6' h gates. In total there is 166 linear feet of new fencing to be installed (approx. 7 foot sections) with PT wood posts (approx. 24 - 6" x 6" x 12' PT posts). Something similar the fencing shown in the attached.
In addition I am looking at a 500 square foot pressure treated wood deck to the rear of my 2 storey home, basically just above ground grade. I would like half of the deck to be open and the other half (say approx. 280 square feet) to be covered (but left open along all sides). Something similar to the deck on the back of the house in this photo.
I recently had a concrete retaining wall installed between my rental property and the next door neighbour. The terminal posts and the link posts are to be bolted to the side of the 8 inch thick retaining wall. The height of the link fence is to be 4 ft. The colour of the fence is to be black. There are no obstructions.
The existing fence on the other side of the yard has 2 inch chain link x 9 ga. in black colour. The post spacing can be 10 ft. The total length of the link fence is 57 ft.
I would like an estimate. Please call me at my residence so that we can meet at the rental at a suitable time.
With kind regards,
Peter
I live in a new neighbourhood. The builder will be laying sod this week and thereafter we will be in a position to install fences.
My neighbours and I are looking for someone to assist in installing fence posts. What needs to be done is holes drilled, holes filled with concrete and fence posts inserted so that we can complete installation of the fence boards. The properties are small - approximately 20-30 feet deep.
We can have materials purchased and delivered.
I have 83.60 ft back property that currently has cedar hedge and a tree on each side of the property line. There is also a service easement along the properly line. Looking at removing the cedars and installing a wood fence (8ft high). I can install fence, but need help with the post installations. Locates would be completed after cedars removed.
Looking for rough budget quote for 2018+ work. Will request final quote and schedule when I decide to do this project.
I am looking to get a quote on the following project:
I need approx 5-6 post holes dug/augered, posts set in cement and levelled, as well as, cut to proper
height. This is for a property line.
I would also like to know what the cost would be individually as; I have 3 areas on my own property where I would like to put up a fence & gates to keep my dogs in the backyard and for privacy at the front of the house. But may not do so, until closer to fall.
I would like to remove my existing fence and gates and have you install everything new.
I'm looking for a quote on the following new fence:
- approx. 60 ft in length (not including gates)
- Two gates: 3 ft wide each with decorative insert similar to the standard Home Depot gate
- 6x6 posts
- 6 ft high fence, board on board, brown PT
Could you please provide me a quote and your soonest start time?
Thank you.
Hi, my name is Peter. I'm in the London area. I'm replacing an existing 16' fence and looking to have 3 post holes drilled for 4x4 posts. Its a small job. The fence is located at the end of the house at the end of the drive way. Easily excisable. I know there is a minimum for someone to come. Thanks
Hey there!
We need an estimate please for a wood privacy fence between our pool and our neighbor's pool, as the one here presently is starting to give (since the last storm) -- I think the old fence must be over 10 yrs old...
We have 4x4 posts but need 6x6 I think. Can we schedule a look-see for an estimate please?
We need some estimates (and maybe photos of fences done for others) for the neighbors and us to decide on a contractor for this job. Thanks in advance!
Kind Regards
Dave
We had our pool removed in the fall and the fence was removed to allow access for tractor etc. Now, we need someone to put it back together. We have the pieces, but need a post put into ground and attached to fence. Also have a small wood ramp that was installed for our lame dog, to be replaced with wooden stairs (we have wood stairs) - just needs to be re-attached to the deck
We're in the Trafalgar/Highbury area
Thanks ~ Danielle and Kristen

We live in a Condo Complex and have made some recent adjustments to the arrangements in our small back yard, and I mean small 10' out from the back of the Condo and 20' across. The way the fencing works is the side portions are the Condo's responsibility and the rear (Long) portion is the tenants. We would like to replace the rear fence and change the location of the existing gate / entrance way to make it more convenient for us since the addition of the new appliance. We have to maintain the style and height of the fence and can "Fancy up" the gate a little to add personality but must not take away from the over all look. The fence is typical privacy wood with alternating upright slats with 2X4 rails and 4X4 posts and is 6' in height. The gate will be the same height and approximately 36"wide. There may need to be an additional post added to accommodate the now gate location as well. Please contact for further details and photos of the existing structure can be provided.
