I need to excavate out my current driveway (and a side patio area) to install paving stones. The driveway is 22 feet by 26 feet long. It currently has a 2 inch layer of crushed stone on top of asphalt. I need to excavate down (removing asphalt and existing base) 14". Attached to and beside the current driveway, I'm building a seat wall bench and patio (17 feet by 15 feet) ..so I need this area excavated down 9". The existing patio area also has existing concrete steps and concrete walkway that need to be removed. I have paving stone installers coming to the site and they need to start on an excavated subgrade to begin installing base material.
The job requires excavating and removing material (primarily very sandy soil) down to the depth as listed above.
I have attached a rough sketch of the area in question. One is before, the other is what needs to be done (the file with the bench and extra patio is the area finished area needed for excavation The black is the area requiring excavation). I have also included pictures. I work in the paving stone industry, but my Hardscaping crew has recently expressed a time constraint, so I'd like to have this excavated and ready for them.
I'd like to have this completed as soon as possible.
2 story town house and it needs to be framed 5' out from the house the foundation is existing and a little framing work in side the house, ill have a balcony on the 2nd floor, and a walk out basment from the front of the house. i have the building permit also with thhe scetches for the walkout basment.
I have a request for a quote to perform an excavation job for 52 Lawrence Ave West. I am a disabled person who recently was granted city approval and a permit to build a driveway on my property directly onto Lawrence Ave.
I do not want a fancy driveway, nor a driveway with any considerations for my disabled condition (as of yet) as I am considering modifying my home to fit my need as well. I just need my front lawn excavated, somewhere to park my car close to my home and/or a dumpster for when I have to modify my home for my disability. I believe I need retaining walls for this job as well. My front lawn area is a hill with a tree (also have permit to remove) and both my neighbours have steep lawns/hills.
Can you please provide me a quote (as accurate as possible), as to how much it would cost to excavate (with the absolute most cost effective option).
Thanks kindly,
I can provide drawings and permit approval upon request (to aid with quote).
Tabitha

House is about 80 years old. Recently underwent major renovation (3 years ago). All excavation would be accessible from front of house under existing covered front porch (porch is similar to wooden deck in construction). Current basement is 11 by 15 ft. Propose to underpin 3 walls (37 linear ft), lower the basement 18", remove existing front basement exterior wall and extend out 6 ft (assume supporting posts required in place of existing loading-bearing wall). As well, excavate a 6 ft wide section on side wall of basement to create an attached storage room (total area 6 by 17 ft = 102 sq. ft). This area is under a hallway (raised 3 ft above ground-level - same level as front porch). This would result with the exterior walls of the extended basement being in line with the exterior wall of the house (hallway area) and the front of the covered porch (i.e., the porch would be on top of the extended area of the basement).
Hi,
I have a major renovation coming up in downtown Toronto. It's in the Bloor and Ossington area. I'm looking for the following trades to get the project started:
- Demo/Excavation
- Footings/Foundation
- Framer/Carpenter
I'd also be interested in discussing the possibility for one person or company to take on all three of these stages as a package.
As with many downtown Toronto projects, the side setbacks are quite limited. I have attached a detailed survey, site plan and approved committee of adjustment plans to this email for you to look at specifics. The good news is there's a back laneway that can accommodate a dump truck as well as space for bins. I'm adding significant length to the house as well as a third story. The basement in the current house has already been underpinned.
Please take a look at the attachments and get back to me with any questions. If you are interested in taking on some or all of the work, please make sure to provide me with ballpark pricing and as many details as possible so that I can make sure that a conversation is worth our time. For now, please assume 22x10 footings and 12" @ 16" joists.
I expect to start this project in the 3rd or 4th week of April.
Thanks. Looking forward to hear from you.
