Restaurant under construction for summer 2011 requires basement wall mold removal and reconstruction before retail opening. Basement approximately 400 sq. ft. Damage due to flooding last year was never cleaned up plus open sump pump causing additional moisture. Building likely between 75 and 100 years old.
The room is approximately 7' by 10' with a lot of black mold along the length of two walls with large windows (about 10 feet in total length). The carpet has some loose black mold on top of it, but I haven't looked underneath.
How much would it cost to clean up? And how long will it take?
Thanks,
Helen
I live in a basement suite and recently I noticed black mold on the lower part of two of the walls. Behind these walls is a laundry/storage room that is very damp/humid, and the mold, I believe, is originating in there and emerging on the outside wall. The mold is interspersed on about two meters of the lower part of the walls, right above the baseboards. The house is approximately 100 years old, I imagine.
I put in 2 sub pumps a year ago, that are working, but just removed an old map that smelled horrible that was 4' x 6' My daughter has allergies this year and her closet has the attic in it.
The stone steps to the front door have loosen and missing cement holding them together, same in the back which is a bigger stone patio. There is a small pool with some cracks in the concrete surrounding the pool
In one of our bathrooms there appears to be some mold around the window and the caulking of the tub. The moisture may originate from the outside brick wall or the plumbing. Since the bathroom is tiled, it is difficult to ascertain the source. We are seeking a free estimate to assess the problem and suggestions for remediation.
We've just moved into this house and spent our first winter. We noticed for the first time the ceiling in our front closet, bedroom closet and corner of our bedroom, mildew accumulation which have now left remnants of black stain. When we purchased the house, on the purchase agreement, there was proof that the roof had been redone since 2009 with new insulation.
The house was fully painted and we were unable to see if this was a recurrent problem from previously.
We want to know what is causing the mildew and hope to have it removed before we hit our second winter in this house?
Hi,
The storage space under our basement stairs has a musty odor and a couple of items that were in the storage area did have mold on it and were thrown out. The walls do not have any visible mold.
We've pulled up the carpet that was in the closet and we've noticed that part of the concrete floor is missing and there is visible ground/dirt. We have sprayed the area with mold control spray, but this is a temporary fix as I don't know what the source of the mold is.
We need the source of the smell removed and the space to be sprayed to prevent the problem from returning. The rest of our basement is fine, except for the closet.
We are looking for someone who has experience with this type of problem. A free inhome estimate is required.
I just purchased a new home and the inspector found something in the basement that looks like mold. I am looking for someone to come in and inspect the area in question and recommend the best way to deal with the problem if there is one. The house is over a 100 yrs old and is located in South Riverdale area of Toronto. The effected area is roughly 15-20 sqft.
I have a 16' x 15' wood shed and have one wall that is 3/4 covered in mold. The base plate has completely deteriorated as has some of the particle board holding the aluminum siding up outside.
Wondering what the best approach is to fixing this?
Would also like to have 1 roof vent installed.
Thanks for your help.
