My son had flooded our upstairs bathroom and as a result I now have two holes cut from my main floor ceiling. I have finally gotten approval from the insurance company but am thinking of taking the cash settlement and contracting out the work myself. My house is just over 1300sqft so the main floor is just under 700sqft. I need two 1'x1' holes fixed as well as the entire ceiling scraped (currently popcorn style) and retextured.
I have a minor ceiling leak and wall repair - the paint has begun to ripple on wall... ceiling is stipple. Drywall. About 2 feet by 1 foot or so. Not huge. Would love an idea of cost and timeline. It's a child's bedroom, so we are hoping for a quick and safe repair. House is about 40 years old, but this was an addition in 2000 ish.
Thank you!
Hi there. We are considering a minor kitchen renovation. We have a 'drop down' ceiling in our kitchen that looks dated, and fluorescent tube lighting behind that. We would just like the drop down part removed and the lighting updated to something nicer.
Please let me know if you are interested in this.
Regards
Joe
Hello contractors!
We have a simple project. We want to replace our basement ceiling. It's presently composed of tiles and drywall. What we want is a t- bar ceiling so we can achieve better access and update the look somewhat.
I am unsure of the exact square footage of our ceiling; however, the house is 985 square feet so that should give a rough estimate. The work will require removal of some drywall and all the tiles (which come down very easily). We request the removal of all garbage at the end of the job.
We're located in central Calgary. We are flexible for the start time, but prefer the work to be done in November.
Hello, I'm looking to get popcorn ceiling removed and then the roof plastered and ready for paint? Area is approximately 950sq ft, ceilings ~8 feet high.
Looking for a quote to get the popcorn removed and then the ceiling plastered/taped, and a quote for only having the plastered work done. Thanks.
kitchen popcorn ceiling needs to be scraped off and redone size of kitchen is approx 15x12 (no leaks but is cracking in several places)
repair to bathroom wall and repaint bedroom and ensuite bathroom approx 15x15 (I have paint)
screen repair from door and bedroom window and also frame and screen on one window
countertops in kitchen
home was built in 1989 in McKenzie area
I wish to scrape popcorn finish from ceiling in otherwise good condition, and have the new look patterned plaster applied with plain edging at walls. 2 bedrooms, hall, foyer, liv/din, kitchen, app 850 sq ft. I am looking to replace flooring and kitchen, so neatness is not a huge issue. I am willing to do the scraping if the price could be adjusted accordingly. Property would be empty at time of work, so I would expect a quick completion time.
We would like the popcorn ceiling removed on the ground floor of our home as well as the stairwell and upstairs hallway. We would ideally like this to have a flat finish.
Downstairs is aprox 1000 sqft and with the hallway upstairs it would be circa 1100-1200 sqft.
We would also like the wall between in kitchen and lounge removed (it is non load bearing). The wall does have some light switches and plug sockets in.
Finally as removing the wall will create a large open plan area we would need the light fixtures in the ceiling moved.
We are away for 5 weeks December - January so ideally would like the work completed whilst we are away so that when we return we can move forward with painting, woodwork, floor renovation ourselves.
We had our bathroom ceiling painted a while ago and shortly after it was painted the popcorn started peeling off rather aggressively. We would like this repaired in a way that will not cause this issue in the future. Damage and job is constrained to the bathroom in our condo. Condo is occupied by tenants but I can coordinate any access needed.
When we went to replace ceiling fixture in bedroom, noticed rust on light fixture and slight water damage on ceiling, so it appears water has leaked in from somewhere. Ceiling material is soft and weak, therefore we cannot install a new light. Water stain appears old. Shingles were replaced 4 years ago, however we have had roof repaired in similar area recently as well.
Last week during the heavy rain and wind, some water got into my basement, dripping down from the center of the ceiling, and along the window ledge. There is a deck with Duradek on top, with the basement underneath. The water was dripping down the center of the ceiling in the basement under the deck. The back window was leaking water continually for a couple of days after the rain stopped. The back door mat in that area was wet. It was the next day after the rain stopped that I had gone down to the basement and realized what happened and by then the rain had stopped. The wind was pretty strong, so I am not sure if the water came in sideways, or somehow along the top of the deck. It does it look like the Duradek had been installed properly and all sealed up.
I cut a 4" x 8" hole in the ceiling, to let the water out, and putting my hand up there, it still feels wet. It hasn't rained now again since then, so may be harder to trace where the water came in.
I was wondering if you are interested in having a look, to see if perhaps you can tell where the water came in, fixing the ceiling, perhaps seeing if the window needs to be replaced or sealed, or if the deck cover Duradek needs to be replaced / resealed. Or, if the facia or eavestroughs are loose. Those are my guesses. Possibly the water may have come in from the back side, ran along the back wall and down to the window, and along inside the ceiling until it dripped out the ceiling, but that's just my guess. I can attach a few photos.
If you are interested in having a look and giving me a quote for repair, that would be great. I work 8:00 - 4:00 and home by 4:30, but can come home earlier / go in a little later, to meet up. I did talk to the insurance and they did say they started a file, and to get a quote for repair. It could be extensive if a lot of the ceiling or the back wall needs to come out to trace where the water came in.
My office number is the best during the day as I don't have good cell service at work.
Thanks
