Shower drain is currently leaking. The drain was re-sealed by a plumber using plumber's putty about 3 months ago when the leak was first noticed. It stopped for a couple of months, then started again.
It appears the shower stall will have to be removed to get at the leak. Since this must be done we may just renovate and put in a tile shower if possible.
Request quote for the following options:
1. Removal of fibreglass stall, repair of drain, re-installation of same stall (if possible)
2. Removal and disposal of fibreglass stall, repair of drain leak, installation of tile shower with sliding door and tile floor for the entire bathroom. Shower stall is approx 5' X 3' and floor is approx 3 1/2' X 5'.
For Both options some minor drywall repair on the living room ceiling will also be needed where water has leaked.
Project must be completed by 01 Jul 2010 latest.
The primary job is the room on the second floor above the garage. It is currently finished but is not an official bedroom. The major problem is that the door is located so far to the right that the doorway is partially obstructed by the sloped ceiling that is the roof. We want to relocate the door so that it opens into the area of the room that can accommodate a full size door opening. The difficulty is that the wall is at the junction of at least two roofs and is the support for at least one of those roofs.
In addition to putting in a new door, we would also need to add a closet to the room and possibly insulate the room. It would also need heat. The current heat pump cannot reach that far so we are looking at a dedicated heat pump or at the very least an electric baseboard heater.
The other room that will need renovating is the bathroom. I don't believe it would require any structural changes or relocation of fixtures. It just needs to be modernized with higher end finishes. This most likely would involve new fixtures, new floor, cabinet, counter top, faucets, and tiling around the bathtub .
Small bathroom update job in Langford, BC. Requested by the owner/landlord for a rental property.
Description of job:
-Replace bathroom sink and faucet.
-Remove and replace tub surround.
-Update/replace the tub and shower faucet and spouts while we're at it.
Note: We've already purchased the tub surround as well as adhesive/caulking (pre-emptive purchase, but we have it now).
We wish to hire a contractor to put in a new shower. We presently have a soaker tub in place that is 20 years old. We are looking at taking the tub out and putting in an enclosed shower that can be purchased from any number of stores or having a pan put in and a complete tile job done. We also wish to have our bathroom floor heated. If interested please call
We're planning on removing a claw foot tub and installing a tub and surround in it's place. The space is longer than a standard tub/surround, so a wall we'll need to be erected to serve as the end. We are also thinking about creating a small closet if possible. We're open to suggestions.
Current size of bathroom is 8 1/2 ft. x 5 1/2 ft. Demolish wall between bathroom and bedroohallway linen closet which will add 2 ft. in length. Remove bathtub/shower unit from existing wall and install corner shower unit. Install new tub in area where vanity and toilet are currently located which will be under a window. Relocate toilet. install new vanity in newly acquired space.
We've got a 1920's house in Fairfield that has a small main floor bathroom ( one of three full baths in the 3-level home). Currently it is a decaying, unvented mess of 1970's drywall and tile with a cheap sink vanity and a lousy toilet. We fear it's got mold, predictable since it doesn't have a vent! It has a small window, but we don't open it much.
We'd like to make this bathroom a wet room. Since there are tubs on both the second floor and the finished basement level, a shower-only on the main floor seems reasonable, and when I've travelled, I've seen very modest and functional wetrooms where there is tile on every surface and a drain in the floor... we're looking for very simple here, kind of like a rec centre locker room, not high style, but very high function, which of course can turn out to be stylish.
We've gotten outrageous ($40,000+) bids from tile contractors and wonder if there's a way to simply get the thing done without too much frill or fuss... we are happy invest in good materials and planning, and to help out with the labour wherever we clueless but dedicated homeowners might help.
The room is as wide as a bath-shower combo plus maybe 10 inches, and about 8 or 9 feet deep.
