We have four rooms renovated.
1) small bathroom gutted and redone to become more spacious
2) bedroom converted to working office for two with a walk out deck
3) Family room updated (recess lighting, new cabinets, new fireplace facade
4) Sliding 'Japanese' wall added to separate a section of the basement, but still allowing for open space when required
Some of the work required custom cabinetry, and creative use of sliding wall.
All work looks very good. The sliding/diving wall in the basement impresses everyone.
The family room has been upgraded from 1970s to 2010.
We began this major renovation - to increase our one-storey 600 sq ft bungalow to a two-storey 1800 ft house - with a lot of dreams and a lot of anxiety. Wayne (the owner) and the Divine Construction Crew quickly put the fears to rest while making the dream a reality. I cannot say enough about the friendliness and professionalism of Wayne and his crew. They were responsive to all of our requests - including a few last minute changes on our part. The only glitches we faced were with external suppliers, and Wayne worked tirelessly to advocate on our behalf with those people until an acceptable solution could be reached. At the end of our four month project, everything came in within 5% of the original quote - which is nearly unheard of with projects of this size! The work was all done well, and has made our home a place we love to show off as we continue living in it (and loving it!) six months after completion. If we have any future renovation needs, we will certainly be calling Divine Construction again.
(Bathroom reno) Our first reno experience-we had heard many horror stories(thanks Mike Holmes) and we're unsure how to pick the right contractor. After much research, met with Wayne from Divine and knew we had the right guy. Despite being our first reno and us being unaware of everything it entailed, Wayne was helpful and open to what we needed. He provided an itemized quote quickly and up front and revised our quote for us when we changed our minds on certain issues without question.
Once work started the guys were on site early and were very approachable, again open to questions/concerns or just friendly conversation. These guys, were here to work and it showed, working full (long) days. Being an older home there were several quirks and hiccups that the guys ran into, all dealt with, with a minimal impact on budget/time/finished product. A great (and unexpected) bonus for us was the fact that there was cleaup done everynight-still tools and supplies left behind obviously, but the 'mess' of construction was gone at the end of the day-nicely done! At one point we discovered we had bought the wrong tub for our setup, not only did Wayne offer to take our tub back for us but managed to find a tub that exceeded our expectations-again without impatience at our 'rookie mistake'.
All in all a great experience, with a friendly knowledgeable team. Easy to recommend especially to rookies like us. I guess the best feedback we can give is we've already asked Wayne to quote us for our kitchen project next.
