I requested quotes from a number of different concrete companies to do multiple jobs at my house which included the front porch, front walkway, side walkway, expanding the driveway from a single to a double, as well as a new garage floor. I liked Sheldon right away because he was very knowledgeable and provided a number of different options that made sense for my house and that would give me the effect I wanted while being the most cost effective. I paid the deposit in early February and we were hoping for an end of May start. Of course COVID changed all of that and our job got pushed into July. The Benco crew had some issues right away which included working through a heat wave as well equipment failure on one of their Bobcat machines. I actually don’t know how the crew worked through that heat and with the equipment failure there was a lot of extra manual work. Additionally, Sheldon had to rent a compressor/jack hammer to finish the demo work and I know that some of the concrete in the garage was much thicker than expected! It is a disruptive process and I know this one took longer than planned. I will admit that it was frustrating at times but Sheldon did a great job at communicating and was sure to address any concerns that I had. For example there was a pouring mistake on the side walkway that concerned me. Sheldon had his crew tear that up the next day and re-pour. In the end Sheldon was good to his word on the contract with no additional charges even with a number of job complications. Everything looks great and we are very happy with the work. We have received many positive comments from neighbours and have even had two contractors stop to discuss the process used to get the stamped concrete look that was employed. Thank you Sheldon and crew Ed, Chris, Blake and Jerry – Great job guys!
Benco concrete took my money and promised to show up in 12 weeks, then didn't show up for 6 months. Then when they finished paving my driveway it won't drain when it rains. The water pools on the driveway, Sheldon said there was nothing that could be done about it. When I consulted other concrete businesses they said his job was sloppy, and the drainage is his fault. Benco got concrete all over my house and when I talked to Sheldon about it he said my house was garbage and the dirt was already there before his team did any work. He charged me 150% of what his quote was for and didn't say a word about how much it would cost until the job was done. He insulted my family, he insulted my home, his work is poor quality.
If you talk to him about his poor workmanship you'll see Sheldon's real side, it's not pretty. Do not waste your money on Sheldon Benson or Benco Concrete.
Sheldon and his team were great. They made everything easy to understand answered all my questions. When I first called I was put on a waiting list as these guys are busy. When my address came up they were quick to excavate and they were all done in 3 days. They even gave me a number for a great landscaper when I asked. Thanks so much Sheldon and team! Great work.
