Poor workmanship, intalled the floor marble tile that was uneven, broke the bathroom mirror and was relanctant to replace it and when he was paid for the job, less the cost of the broken mirror, showed total un professional behaviour. He took all the job site waste and dumped it in my parking spot, which I had offered him to park his vehicle, to save him from $30+ parking cost per day in Vancouver.
He had a real problem working with other trades people who were working on a different job in my condo.
Finally, his tile requirement estimation was all wrong requiring me to make two trips to buy more floor tiles and a lot of broken tiles due to not having the right equipment to cut tiles.
Additional comments to support my case:
Your rebuttal facts are wrong.I initially met Felipe at my condo to see what I wanted to renovate and put a quote for three areas, hallway bath room, master ensuite bathroom and kitchen back splash tiles.
The renovation project was to include large format tiles for all areas and before I purchased the tiles I called Felipe for accurate estimation for tile requirement and confirm if he can work with large format tiles. He called me to say that he does not have the equipment to cut large format tiles and does not have the experience. The largest tile he could work with was 24 inch by 12.I compromised with Felipe and used the 24x12 inch tile for his first project which was the hallway bathroom. I also told him that this would be a test of his skills. The kitchen tiles project was now out as my wife wanted large format tiles.
I live in a condo, and all elevators must be booked for large material movements....no one has the exclusive use of the common elevators.
Sharing of the fob would not be an issue as all the other contractors did not move in and out of the condo.
I had explicitly told Felipe that my parking spot was not to be used to store materials of any kind, as the strata has strict rules and would fine me $150/day.
I have appended three photos showing the quality of Felipe work...poor dry wall patching, uneven tile heights adjoining the hallway tiles and poor cuts near the vanity which lead to using quarter round. Totally unacceptable for the bathroom finish. Original tiles were butted to the vanity with any baseboard covering.
The day Felipe left, he did not share with me that he has dumped the job site waste in my parking spot and I found out the following day (Saturday) in horror what he had done. I had to have third party remove the waste at a considerable cost.
After that episode, I did not trust Felipe and wanted nothing to do with him of Brakendale Finishing.
My experience was not pleasant, poorly finished bathroom without the choice my my original tile size and the stress of dealing with job site waste.I have written the review because I did not want other people to go through the bad experience of this contractor....renovation in itself is already a stressful situation and when compounded with a bad contractor makes the whole process very stressful for the family.
Dear Mohamud,
We are very sorry to hear you were not happy with the service. As is fair, we would like to address the issues above.
The mirror in question was glued tightly to the wall and had been glued there for a long time, making it extremely difficult to remove without damaging. We did however, purchase a new mirror for you. But after contacting you (which is also when we were going to collect the garbage as we had said we would come back to fix the mirror and complete the project), you never replied. As per the photos, the project was unfinished (EG the picture of the wall you posted there was where the mirror was going to go).
Before starting the project, we were told we would have full access to the elevator to carry tools and materials back and forth. Upon starting the project, we were then told we had to share the fob with multiple people making this difficult. However as subcontractors, we frequently share with other trades and certainly are okay with working alongside others.
Regarding the tiles, we acknowledge there may have been some miscommunication. With the size of your bathroom we gave our recommendation for tile sizing and spoke about this with you in detail before starting. Unfortunately upon purchasing, the tiles you bought were extremely large and not the size we had previously spoken about.
When we left your project, you were happy with the work. Also we would like to note after the deductions you made (1 day into the project and nothing to do with the mirror), you said you would only pay less than $600CAD for all new bathroom tiles with underfloor heating The original quote given was because we were supposed to work on two bathrooms, which again, the details of this were changed afterwards by yourself.
We work extremely hard for our clients and are genuinely saddened to hear you were not happy with our services. We can acknowledge there has definitely been some forms of miscommunication here and if you would like to discuss this further, please contact our reception at 604-618-4202. We are happy to talk about this further and still have the mirror we purchased for you. Let us know if there is anything we can do and we wish you all the best.
Felipe did a fantastic job of my bathroom remodel. Demo, install and grout completed in 3 days on budget and very tidy. Really pleased with the outcome and his professionalism.
Thanks for your review Carol. Hope to keep helping in your future projects!
Felipe had an incredible work ethic to get the job done on time and with as little disruption to our staff as possible. He was able to work with minimal direction and everything looked amazing when he was done. He said how long it would take and he was done on time even though he had to work around our staff during our workday.
There were no surprises in our invoice and we would havae him work for us again.
Could not have asked for a better experience with Felip. He started to project on time and finished on time. He workmanship was outstanding. We are so happy with his work and would highly recommend Felipe to anyone doing any type of renovation work. The best!
