Recently used the services of grant renovations after my basement got flooded. Ben and his team did a nice job removing and retiling the floors, replacing the damaged sideboards and walls, partial renovation of bathroom. I was happy with the kind of work done and most importantly left no mess after the work. Work was also completed in the time stated.
Good team work. Job well done. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ben.
Thanx Shiraz was a pleasure working with you.
Looking forward to working on your next project.
Thank you

We were looking forward to renovating our property but sadly this has turned into a nightmare.
Some of the issues we had with Grant Renovations:
-Kept on delaying our start date and most times there was only 1 employee working at a time.
-Our contract clearly identified that contractor will handle all permit issues etc. But Ben Grant started demolition without any valid permit and we had to shut down the job when the inspector arrived. The permit was filed long after the demo began. This contractor does not know the right rules and regulations!
-Appliances arrived but they did not check to ensure everything was alright. Turns out the dishwasher is completely banged up. Also, we had to reschedule some of our deliveries multiple times as the team did not show up to work on time. Punctuality is not their strength!
-Fire places were ordered in Jun and eventually started installation in mid September to find out its a defected piece. Likely not able to return at this point as this has sat for so long. Waste of money!
-Ordered double the material -hardwood, tiles, paint etc.
-Does not manage nor monitor the work his employees are doing. Ex: it took 2 guys a whole day to put up 3-5 sheets of dry wall. When I complained, Ben's response is "I am doing what I can!"
-Shows up late to work, takes long lunches, leaves for hours at a time leaving the employees unsupervised and delaying the job and leaves right on time at the end of the day.
-Did not show up for 1.5weeks because of other projects he was working on and couldn't manage his resources for both jobs. But chose to lie stating "The guys quit because they are uncomfortable with you coming in and out of the house and asking questions.". Funny that he returned to the job with the same guys a week and a half later.
-Generally very very slow pace and very sloppy finishing. Grade A procrastinator.
-Very punctual about payments. Threatens to not show up if no payment is received. Prioritizes employees schedule over that of the project, mixes personal issues with business (kept on complaining about being late on his rent, fights with his wife etc.), belligerent when reminded that he owes us the work that he is yet to deliver.
-Complained that he made a mistake with the quote and did not charge us enough. Apparently not the first time he made this mistake!
-Renovation which was to be completed on Jul 07 remains incomplete as of today Sep 27. Almost 3 months behind schedule! We have terminated our contract with him and he still seemed hopefull stating "It's almost done!"
-The payments were scheduled weekly but should have been done based on work completed. This is how he drags his feet through all his projects and the homeowners loose control of the project.
-In my opinion, he is a very small shop. Does not have the resources to run multiple jobs at a time and definitely does not have the skills to manage large projects (time and money!). Best to avoid.
Ben was efficient and quite knowledgeable on his trade. What I did like from the start was he came in person to view the job and gave a quote on the spot. Not over the phone. He extended himself beyond call by coming back on Christmas Eve to finish the task though he being a family man had much to do. The work was done as stated and I would definitely have him return for any projects I may consider in the future. Great job!
Thank you Randy.
Was a pleasure working with you.
Happy new year!
Ben Grant of Grant Renovations was hired to help with a small renovation job. Job was for very specific week starting April 7, 2015 . He required deposit to hold those dates.
On April 6th at night, after multiple attempts to reach him, finally got a text letting me know he took another job so can't make it. I told him to refund me and he said no problem.
It's been now over 3 months of having to chase him constantly, and he's been abusive and rude and have yet to be refunded as promised multiple times. Even tried helping him with smaller payments spread out.
Says he doesn't have it in one breath and then in next tells me he's on vacation. He has given me many promises to pay it on specific dates but those days come and go without him keeping his word. And when I inquire, he is just insulting and aggressive.
Basically a dishonest contractor who is trying to keep a deposit for work he never showed up to do.
Not someone you ever want to hire.

Reply From Grant RenovationsHi there Unfortunately i wasnt very satisfied with the company after you guys allowed negative posts on my page. Theres a post from some guy named steve Who i have never even hired let alone heard of. There should be better screening along with proof that they even worked with me Before tarnishing peoples names. I would be happy to continue on as a happy customer as i was before if this situation was resolved. Thanks
Complaint: Ben Grant doesn't pay his employees. He often sub contracts and hires labourers off craigslist and doesn't pay them.
