Greg Walters Construction

Greg Walters is a pleasant and friendly person, and has the ability to produce quality work, but unfortunately there is absolutely no way that we would recommend his services as a general contractor/builder because of his lack of organizational skills and inability to communicate.

Greg acted as the general contractor for an addition on our home. He told us he would need about 1 month to completion (we were doing all the drywalling, painting final finishes etc) and he struggled to complete his portion in over 6 months time, after he put off the start date for 2 seasons. His framing crew and electrician were wonderful – very efficient teams and high quality work. Most often though, it was only Greg working on his own, with his daughter Taylor as his only ‘crew member’ and it was very common for them to not show up for weeks at a time, and when they did, showed no urgency whatsoever to complete the work which was extremely behind already.

His bookkeeping practices are scary to say the least; thousands of dollars worth of material was somehow ‘forgotten’ on the initial quote which he brought to our attention about halfway through the build. When the final amount was owed, he tried to get almost an extra $5,000 from us, saying he hadn’t received it; luckily, we kept all of the records/totals on our end so we could show him otherwise and not get ripped off any more than we already had.

We were far more patient than most would have been under similar circumstances, and understand that delays occur; however, when we’re left in the dark and are not being made aware of the delays or reasons for them, that’s unacceptable and easily avoidable. We hope that he takes our comments as constructive criticism for future contracts and that he will work on communicating more freely with his clients to let them know what is happening with the job, especially when it’s sitting dormant for unrealistic and extended periods of time.
