After doing much homework and many interviews with potential contractors, we were extremely happy with our decision of selecting James. He was a professional throughout the entire process and made sure we were full informed each step of the way. All of his employees were excellent to deal with and were very accommodating to our requests. Mike and Darren in particular are very skilled at their crafts along with being very good people.

Like all construction projects, there were bumps in the road but all were dealt with easily and timely and nothing impacted the end results. The finished project meets all our expectations and we are very happy with the quality of the work.

I am very glad to have James and his crew for my bathroom renovation. They came in and sealed off the area with plastic and did the demo with minimal dust. Drop sheets were laid out every time they came to work and cleaned up at the end of every day.

J. Murphy Contracting worked within my budget and were still able to provide me with a high quality product. They were easy to deal with, lined up all the sub trades who were professional, and communicated with me as to how the project was going.

I really should be writing a number of different reviews for JAMES MURPHY and his crew as they performed numerous much-needed projects at my house during the summer of 2016. What started out with me wanting to re-tile my ensuite bathroom ballooned into my decision to perform numerous renovations and repairs to my outdated 1980's house, including the complete gut and rebuilding of 2 bathrooms. I quickly came to the realization that these projects were way beyond my capabilities. Next stop - find a contractor! I spent days checking out a number of websites and eventually asked for quotes from 3 different contractors. JAMES MURPHY was the only one who responded and when we set up our first meeting, he arrived at the door precisely on time and impressed me from the beginning with his professionalism and enthusiasm - the man obviously loves his work. My decision was made! (NOTE: I did hear from the other 2 - weeks later!)

Within a few days, JAMES provided me with an outline of the work to be performed and a quote, which thankfully fell within my budget, and he stayed on budget throughout! Construction began! Throughout the project, JAMES provided me with the names of his various suppliers from bathroom fixtures, custom cabinetry, granite, tile and shower glass, and I was able to take advantage of his contractor discounts. There were snags along the way, as there always is in construction, but JAMES was able to find a solution for everything and fix it, even tracing some horrible dry rot that had spread right to the outside siding of my house and stopping it in its tracks. This required replacing and re-painting some outside cedar siding before the construction of the bathroom could continue.

JAMES and MIKE from his crew quickly made friends with the resident puppy at my house and I felt very comfortable giving them access to the house each day, even while I was away on a month's vacation. JAMES communicated with me regularly by phone, email and text to let me know what was happening along the way, even sending a movie while I was away on vacation to help with some decision-making that arose. The crew cleaned up every evening and SARAH even vacuumed my staircase one Friday as she knew I was hosting a dinner party that evening! I even relied on JAMES and his crew to make suggestions on design and grout colour etc and am so pleased with the results.

I now have 2 brand new fabulous bathrooms, new kitchen backsplash, a freshly painted stairwell, potlights and some new ceiling fans, and I can't be more pleased! I have already recommended J. MURPHY'S CONTRACTING INC. to numerous people and will continue to do so. He literally made a major construction project a dream and I am very thankful! He was a great find!

The crew that James sent to enlarge our deck were really great. Mike, Sarah and Gabriel, thank you all. We are very happy with the results. They were hard workers who were friendly and quiet and did a wonderful job of keeping everything clean at the end of the day. This is the second project that James has looked after for us, and we will certainly call him for our next project as well.

This is the first renovation I have undertaken and I can say with absolute certainty that my decision to hire this crew was the best thing I could have done. These are the good guys! They were patient and took the time to explain and help me understand when I didn't have a clue. They showed up when they said they would, did what they said they would and charged what they said they would. They really care about the quality of work and client satisfaction. Would highly recommend them and will be hopping up and down to get in line for the next round of renos I have planned.

Would we recommend J. Murphy's Contracting? Absolutely! We terminated the company that we had first employed and on the recommendation of friends and neighbors hired James and his crew, - what a difference! They show up on time, work clean, precise and top notch workmanship & kept us informed daily. Why did we not find them sooner? The next project, and the ones after that, will without a doubt go to James and his team.

This time last year we hired James and his crew to do the first of three phases of renovations. A small power room and guest bathroom were done last year. Both transformations were fabulous - complete removal of existing fixtures and updates were done in a timely manner with a lot of respect to our wishes and keeping the house clean. It was extremely easy to decide to keep James for the ensuite and kitchen. The ensuite was a bit longer waiting for custom fixtures to be done (you can't hurry luxury). We had a small problem and together we came up with a solution and I am proud to show off the ensuite. Finally was the kitchen - we were so comfortable with James and the crew that we went away for a 10 day vacation and came back to more done than expected. Working with Nu Concept for the cabinets and advice from the Contractors we came up with solutions for design and placement of the cabinets, new flooring and appliances. We are thrilled with the outcome.

When we had a problem that we thought was from the renovations (it wasn't) James was very quick to send a plumber to investigate and it was comforting to know that we could depend on these contractors to do any small fixes that were necessary.

At this moment we have a furnace company in cleaning our ducts before the winter. They are so impressed with the lack of construction "crap" in our ducts, they commented that we must have had very competent respectful contractors in doing the renovations - a true testament to the quality and care that James and his crew gave to our home.

I hired James and his crew a year ago to complete work in my kitchen and two bathrooms that included new countertops and back splashes, new lighting, new flooring, installation of all new appliances, new faucets, taps and sinks. As a single woman living alone who had never hired a contractor before I did a lot of research and interviewed quite a few contractors before deciding to hire James. From the beginning I found him to be easy to communicate with, took my concerns regarding the project seriously & was very competitive in his fees. He gave me a time frame of 7 days to get the work done, but the entire project was completed in 5 days. The quality of the work was excellent & I haven't had one problem with anything since the work was completed 9 months ago. All of the men who were in my home to complete the work were really great guys and I felt totally comfortable around them. The quote James provided at the beginning was accurate and there were no surprises in the final cost once the project was completed. I was so satisfied with J. Murphy Handyman that I called again last week for the small job of having my garbage disposal replaced. I called James on Thursday, he had someone at my home on Friday and had the job done in a couple of hours. And, for a lot less money than I would have paid a plumber to do the job. I highly recommend James and his team and I would not consider hiring anyone else for any kind of work in need done in my home.

I was very pleased with the work done to repair a leak around one of my windows, and preventative upgrade on 5 other windows. The original window installer had not included any flashing around the window and as a result, eventually, a leak occurred. Mike and Ron were obviously knowledgeable and professional, and I was pleased to see they were also safety conscious. I especially appreciated that Mike took the time to thoroughly explain and point out why and how the problem had occurred, and what they were doing to correct the improper installation. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend J Murphy's Handyman Service.

Asked for a quote for a small job, which he did for me and I was so pleased, that I got James to do more work for me. All jobs carried out to an very good standard,. I will not hesitate to have J.Murphy's Handyman Services again.

James was a pleasure to work with. He responded to any questions I had very quickly and courteously. He was very professional and very polite. He gave me suggestions which turned out to be excellent ideas. He was always willing to help out to make sure every little detail was taken care of. The job was excellent and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. It looks gorgeous and I would definitely hire him again for future work. I would also highly recommend him to anyone. His crew are excellent and very friendly and also extremely helpful. I'm very happy with all the work.

James was just great to deal with for my travertine stone backsplash. Came in to look at the job, quoted it, and once accepted we agreed on a date and he was there at the agreed date and time and finished at the agreed date and time. When he left, the work area was clear and clean. Workmanship was excellent. Definately would call upon James again for future jobs.

I am on Council with a Strata, and we had a extremely bad drainage problem. Out of all the Contractors we requested quotes from, J. Murphy's Handyman Service was the only one that came back to us with a firm quote, and a time span that was needed to be completed before the rains came.

The work was done on time, and was completed as per the Contract.

We are very pleased with the courtesy shown to our staff by the workers, and quality of workmanship that was provided.
