Service Fire Place: Called this company for resolving Fireplace issue. The guys came and mentioned that they need some parts which they can't source so I should call the Fireplace company. Later after many months I get an invoice of $161.59 for the service. I just do not understand why should I pay $161.59 for a service that they couldn't resolve the issue. I could pay them for coming and inspecting but $161.59 for just inspecting is crazy ridiculous fee. The owner is very unreasonable and unfair. Just stay way from this company. You will be robbed of your hard earned money for no service. After reading other reviews I realized others had similar experience.
Update Feb 21 2023: Response to J & S: Please do not believe they told me ahead that they don't have parts when they don't even know what fireplace I have. It is hard to know how a company does based on single review, I understand. Please read other reviews in google and FB and then make a decision. I'm ok to pay any amount for service that was rendered. Paying $161.95 for saying that parts are not available is day light robbery. I do not recommend them to anyone.
Mr. Bhargavi, we are sorry you are disappointed in our service. As we discussed when you called our office, when you called for service to your fireplace, you were made aware that we do not carry many parts for fireplaces and only have access to very few. You still wanted us to come service your fireplace. When our technician arrived, he was unable to determine the model of your unit as the model and serial number nameplate was missing. Without that vital information we were unable to determine the correct thermopile that was required. At that time you were advised to call a dealer for Instaflame who would be able to determine that for you and source the correct thermopile. As you were made aware ahead of time that we do not carry many fireplace parts and still requested the service knowing that, the service call is chargeable and legitimate.
We were so impressed with the service we received today. The technicians (Dave and Nathan) were both very pleasant and took extra effort to protect our property (put down runners to cover the floor and stairs, carried out all the cardboard) and tidied up any mess they made during the course of their work. The installation looks terrific; venting and piping very professionally done. We would have no concerns about recommending them to our family and friends, and we will definitely be calling them for routine service going forward.
Falsify time on a job and little to no communication. I had a tech come to fix my furnace and on day 1 he was here about 25 min. He couldn’t get the part so I had to wait a couple days for him to come back (part was covered under warranty). There was no paperwork signed or costs discussed at this point. Day 2 he comes back with the part and is done in about 30 min. He fills out the paperwork and writes 1-hour total labour with no costs. I accept 1 hour and sign. He then asks if he can sit in the driveway for a bit(I assumed to eat lunch as it was around that time and said sure). Little did I know they use GPS to track their trucks so he could bill me for more time. Next, I get a copy of the invoice and the white part of my work order and they changed it and it no longer matched my yellow copy. He added more time to it. Their management disregarded me as he said/she said, despite telling them right away to check the timestamp on the photo he took of my furnace tag for warranty purposes and provided my yellow copy. Not to mention the month-long of them not returning my calls or emails. It was only when I mentioned I was going to use a legal service that they decided to reply. I probably shouldn’t have paid anything as my copy had no costs on it but I didn’t want to be put in collections and paid under duress for something that wasn’t my fault. They are untrustworthy and people have the right to know. I used their service a year ago and never had any of these issues with their tech named Doug.
Additional comments: That's amazing you were off for 5 weeks when your staff told me you were in the field working because of too much work, not off sick. Too bad your calls are not recorded so you could listen to them. I paid quickly to get away from your company. You never did explain how my legal yellow copy of the work order can be different than your white copy. I guess you think its ok to modify a legal document that is already signed. I may consider posting it to show everyone what you do.
We are sorry to hear you did not have a good experience with our company. We have been serving the Niagara region for over 63 years. We have a standard minimum 1 hour charge that is clearly printed on all our service orders. You were charged for the minimum 1 hour on the first day. Although we do carry the most common parts, unfortunately we cannot carry parts for every possible furnace, resulting in returning another day to install the part - which was warranty. It was an oversight on the mechanics part missing writing his 1 1/2 hours in for the second day. A simple mistake. Unfortunately I had been ill for quite some time, 5 weeks to be exact, resulting in the delay in resolving this issue. After speaking to our service technician, who denies your claim, and to which our GPS tracking supports him, it had become an issue of your word against ours. You had offered to pay $170.00 which I countered and explained I would deduct the 1/2 hour for the second day thereby reducing your invoice to our minimum charge for each day of $120.00 per day. Within 10 minutes of sending the email offer to you, you contacted our office and paid the offered amount by credit card without comment or incident. As the account has been paid without incident, we consider the issue to be resolved.
