I would put a negative star but it does not allow me to. Run away if you can. I told my window company not to use him but they did anyways and now the front of our house is a mess.
Our window company hired Ed to come and do an egress window.
August, Ed dug the hole. Initially showed up not knowing he had to dig the well even though it was on his work order. Left and came back 2-3 hours later. He took all the fill with him.
Also told us he would make the window company wait to come back to do the cutting because he was mad at them.
September, Ed cut the concrete for the window - he installed two window wells but did not attach the wells together as they should be, and they were not flush with the foundation, this allowed dirt to filter into the well. He only installed two wells when it needed to have 3 because of the depth the well. Since he did not have any fill left, and he did not want to dispose of the concrete he put it back into the hole so you could see the concrete under the window wells and it was coming into the well itself where it needs drainage rock. He did not fill the hole around the well because he had removed it in August. Then blamed our landscapers for taking the fill. Did not come back to fix the issue of needing a third window well and filling the hole, just left it as it was.
End of October, our window company had him come and put a fence around the hole just before Halloween so kids did not fall into it because they would be liable if something happened.
November Ed came to fix the well - 2 months later because he wanted to be paid even though his work was not done and done badly and he wanted more money.
He was supposed to come between 9-11 came at 2. When he did come, he installed the third well - in the dark. It ended up being crooked on the inside. Looked terrible when looking out. Contacted him the next day and he got angry with me. Mad that I was outside watching them and I should have seen that it was crooked. I said that I could not see as I was not in the well with them only above and it was dark but I did ask them to make sure it was all even. Also, not my job to ensure they are doing it correctly, that is what he is being paid for. We also could not see the well from the inside until the next morning because there was plywood protecting the window and it was dark outside because he came so late in the day.
After numerous calls to the window company, Ed came back in February. He did not bring a digger, he did the digging by hand. Since he could not access the bottom of the bottom well to pull it up because it was compacted by dirt and drainage rock, he banged the top two wells down so the bottom well lined up in the grooves making the top well uneven at the top with the left side and uneven with the house. So now we have a crooked window well at the front of our house and the wells are still not drilled flush to the foundation.
When asked him when he was coming back his response is he has not talked to the window company and "that is how it goes sometimes" - Talk about customer service and pride in your work. So, he feels doing a shitty job is ok because that is how it goes sometimes. WOW
Our window company paid him for his terrible workmanship and now he won't stand by his work.
He wants the window company to keep paying him for to fix his mess.
We can't get our building permit approved because we need parging but we can't do parging until he fixes the window well because we don't want the parging damaged. Can't fix our yard because he needs to come back with a digger to fix the well proper. All this and he is making a mess of our foundation and he won't come back and fix his mess.
So, from August to End of March he has been making a mess of our house. This is the front of our house and it looks horrible.
Be very careful of him!
