Michael Coombs came to our house quoted us a quote. We gave him seven thousand four hundred cash to buy supplies to start the job. Never showed up. Would not answer calls, only texts. Stated he lost the money! It was not his fault when we did get an answer via text. Do not trust!
***Warning To Anyone ***
Do Not Hire This Thief!!!
We hired Michael Coombs in May 2017 to tile our front porch, paid a $500 deposit and bought the material that he kept with him. He appeared professional and trustworthy. After 3 months of him promising to do a job that should take 2 days he finally started the near the end of the August. He had many apologies and blamed the rain and other jobs that took longer than expected. He started the job in late August then disappeared for a few days leaving the front porch tarped as we had some rain and left debris at the front of my house. After a few days of texting and phone calls he finally returned to pick up his tarp and clean up the debris. I removed the ugly trarp that was left at the front of my house for days. He returned to pick up his tarp and promised to return in a few days to finish the job. It's been almost a week and he has not returned my calls or text messages to complete the work.
He has been fully compensated for the work as I paid him in good faith that he would finish the job. I am disappointed and want the job to get fully completed.
In May of 2015, we hired Michael Coombs from Nothing But Bathrooms to renovate our powder room as well as our bathroom. We started with the powder room where we needed him to completely gut the powder room, install a tile floor, new toilet, new vanity & install an accent tile wall. We worked together on picking the tile & Michael was able to assist us in selecting different finishes. Reaching him was easy & he returned our texts/calls when needed. However, when he installed the tile floor, he didn't replace the plumbing that runs through the flooring therefore the tile work around the plumbing was left with a gaping hole. We didn't think it would matter since the vanity would cover it. However, when he installed the original vanity, he damaged it (dents & scratches) & we had to get another (smaller) vanity to replace it. The second vanity we got had an open front & we needed Michael to put some kind of front to the vanity to hide the hole in the flooring. Michael's solutions didn't work aesthetically nor were they long term solutions. Instead of doing the work himself, he asked our contractor to fix the issue, which they did to our satisfaction.
We asked Michael to renovate our main bathroom on the second floor while we were out of the country for two weeks. While he was doing the work on the bathroom, we were also having our main floor renovated (new kitchen, ceilings, pot lights, painting, flooring etc). Before we left on vacation, we met with Michael & selected all of our tile & finishes. We agreed on two separate tiles for the shower surround, as well as budget for the tiles. Michael asked if we wanted a fiberglass or metal tub - he mentioned that he had used the fiberglass tubs on other projects & that he recommended them for various reasons. We agreed. The time line for this project was two weeks. While we were away, he gutted the bathroom & installed a heated floor, full tile surround & new vanity. In the middle of the project, he text us to say that his supplier had run out of the tile we wanted & he had to get the tile from another supplier who priced the tile at $10.00 more per tile. I asked him to find a different solution/wait until we got home to select different tile & he said he couldn't wait since the project was underway & he had already gotten the tile. He asked for the money right away. We asked for a receipt to show the difference in price for the tile & he said he would provide the proof to us. We got home from our vacation expecting the bathroom to be completed as agreed upon, however it wasn't finished. In the end, we had to hire an outside company to install the glass shower door & the shower faucet & sink faucet both had to be tightened by us.
A couple of weeks after the project was completed, we had a substantial leak in our brand new kitchen's ceiling. The new bathroom was leaking into our kitchen. When we tried reaching Michael, he wouldn't return our texts or calls. We ended up having to ask our general contractor to come try & fix the leak. While working on the leak, we realized that Michael hadn't used a waterproof membrane between the tile & the walls. Michael finally showed up & was of the opinion that the problem was the fiberglass tub - it was too flexible & the caulking wasn't sticking to it, thus causing water to drain through to the flooring, & into our kitchen ceiling. The tub was re-caulked 5 times prior to Michael returning our calls. When he did show up, Michael re-caulked the tub & the leak stopped temporarily. The bathroom started leaking again, over 6 months later. When we tried calling Michael (at 3 different phone numbers), our calls weren't returned or the calls would be answered & he would hang up right away. We have been left with no other option than to seek legal assistance in this matter.
Wow is all I can say. Nothing But Bathrooms came to our home, gave us an awesome well thought out plan and nailed it 100%. We were given some of the best service we have received from any contractor we have dealt with in the past. We recently bought a fixer upper so we have had to deal with a lot of them believe me. I have already recommended NBB to a few of my close friends who have projects planned. I am curtain they will do a fantastic job, as they did on our Bathroom. Thank you Mike @ NBB!!
I have used Nothingbutbathrooms for my kitchen and washroom renovation. Mike was very professional and courteous, he made sure that everything was working perfectly before he left. If you are looking for a contractor you might want to consider Nothingbutbathrooms for a couple of reasons which are; great quality work, excellent communication, fair pricing, and excellent costumer service. I am very happy with the way everything turned out.
I am really disappointed with Michael from Nothing But Bathrooms. He presented as very professional during the quotation process and I really thought he was going to do a good job. Unfortunately some key things did not go well.
1. He did not return to finish the job, ignoring my effort to contact him.
2. We were left with unfinished dry wall and tiles unsealed.
3. kept asking for us to give him money on the quoted price, while the job was still running.
4. He did not install the hardware on the faucet correctly, and we had to go in and fix it – which might be why he did not return to finish the job.
5. He did not understand the hardware he was installing and we were left without hot water for a week, during the job.
There were a few other things that happened during this job that I will leave out, in effort not to rant. Keeping in mind that we must all keep an objective view on consumer reviews, I rely on these forums when choosing a service and as such, I felt compelled to be honest. It is really too bad that he left this job in the state that he did, as this is not an honest day’s work by any stretch.
I am responding to a complaint I just received.
1. He did not return to finish the job, ignoring my effort to contact him.
This client has not contacted me, other then once. Things were left amicably I thought
2. We were left with unfinished dry wall and tiles unsealed.
Last time I spoke to them I was told not to worry about the drywall, her husband would finish it. The drywall was very water damaged prior to commencing this work. I quoted repairing it, but was told the husband wanted to repair himself. I had to cut a couple holes to access the plumbing, which I patched and coated. The patches needed one coat more and sanding. Also there was an unpaid balance of close to $300 which I was happy to credit for them, to finish the drywall.
3. He kept asking for us to give him money on the quoted price, while the job was still running.
As with all work I do, this job followed an outlined payment schedule. We encountered an unexpected problem, for which I was forced to ask for one payment early.
4. He did not install the hardware on the faucet correctly, and we had to go in and fix it which might be why he did not return to finish the job.
I have no idea why she is saying the faucet was not installed correctly. Or if it was not correct why I was not informed ??
5. He did not understand the hardware he was installing and we were left without hot water for a week, during the job.
This is true. The client was left without hot water for a few days. But it was not due to my lack of knowledge. But due to a problem with the fixture the client provided. (The mixer valve came backwards) I admit I have never encountered this problem before and it took a bit of time to figure out what the problem was.
I find it very upsetting that this client would lodge a complaint like this without contacting me. Contrary to what she is claiming they have not attempted to contact me. I have not received any phone calls or emails from the client. I would expect with a complaint like this the client should be able to produce some un-replied to emails at least.
I truly value client satisfaction. This is the first time I have had a complaint from any client, I am rather upset that she did not even contact me. I would have done whatever I had to do to ensure their satisfaction.

We've had & still use nothingbutbathrooms for all of our renovation needs. Mr. Coombs exceded all of my expectations regarding my newly renovated bathroom. He took it from a 60's to modern day exceptionally and well within our budget. I would truly recommend Mike 100% and am grateful we welcomed him & nothingbutbathrooms into our home. If your looking for that extra mile in a contractor look no further.
