After calling multiple appliance repair companies, Manny was the only one who responded over the christmas holiday. I needed to have my dryer belt replaced as this issue happened to me last year as well. He quoted me an upfront price over the phone which was very reasonable. He did the repair the same day and i got my dryer working again. Im very appreciative of his service.
The worst experience in appliance repair service in my life! Manny was very polite and professional, until he got my $600 e-transfer, then he disappeared. I realized after i paid him, when i checked out reviews of ODAR online, that this was a scam!. My fault, never ever again!
Terrible terrible terrible! Scheduled a repair to my oven thermostat which was over-heating, and a consult re: the dishwasher. After missed appointment due to 'car problems' the fellow came and ordered parts...several weeks later, returned supposedly with part for the oven, but not the dishwasher. Company called, blamed the technician, said the parts were in...Oven still not working, sent a new technician, said they couldn't order the part...paid $340.00 for NOTHING! And they still haven't reimbursed me and can't be reached.
Contacted ODAR from internet search. Technician arrived two days after putting in call. An up-front amount is billed and then applied to the repair. The diagnosis took no time at all. Technician seemed competent and knowledgeable. I was told that part would be available in a couple of days and a flat rate was charged of which half was applied to credit card. Seven calendar days and numerous phone calls later I found out that tech is scheduled to visit in the afternoon and I was still away from home (dispatch did not call because my issue had been escalated to supervisor.) I checked price and availability of part on line and found part in stock and at a lower price - I had been told that part was not in stock from their supplier. The policy of using "blue book" flat rates resulted in an invoice of $437 after tax with a breakdown of $285 labour and $102 for parts. I find the labour portion excessive and the part price 20% higher than competitors. I also ended up with a large pool of fluid on my driveway from the tech's vehicle. A different tech came to install the part than diagnosed the problem. The range is fixed but I would prefer to pay by the hour and I felt the parts sourcing did not have my best interest at heart.
***BEWARE*** ODAR sends dishonest technicians into your home. The culprit, Johnny, arrived at my door wearing an ODAR identity shirt. I was desperate to have my Viking gas range oven repaired. After 1/2 hour he said it was a "big problem" and gave me a quote of $900 to fix it. He claimed it needed 2 parts at $350 each and it was a complicated install.
When he came back from his car with the parts I asked him what they were and he said igniters. I then checked online and found that they retail from Viking for $112. I asked why his were so much more and he explained that his parts were top of the line parts that he gets supplied by the company, ODAR. He proceeded to fix the "big problem" in 45 minutes and was out my door with $900 cash. After he left I found the packaging for the parts stuffed into my garbage can and to my great disappointment the packaging was for Whirlpool Corporation Factory Certified parts with a Whirlpool Igniter product number. I checked online and was shocked to see that they retail from Whirlpool Canada for $35.39! I also learned that this problem is a routine fix, not a complicated one, and that there are many YOUTUBE videos on how to replace this part for the DIY'er.
I called Johnny multiple times on the phone number he gave me but could never get through. I spoke to ODAR customer service multiple times and they regret this situation happened and said that they will no longer be using this technician since there have been other such incidents with him but they could not do anything else for me.
So I'm left with my $5000 Viking range now with $35 mediocre Whirlpool parts and hoping that I get a couple years out of them.
If there's one bad apple.....you know the rest.
I called for a dryer repair and had a technician out the following day. I was told I had many broken pieces inside my dryer and it was probable that at some point I had a fire inside judging by the damage. The estimate which was verbal and never supplied in paper or by email was over 700$. I paid 90$ for the service call and declined the repair which was offered at a cash price of 650$. I priced a new dryer (the same one) for less than the cost of the repair. I watched a you tube video showing how to open the dryer myself (if a repair was more than a new dryer, what did I have to lose?). I found the heater element was broken which was 114$ from Samsung Canada. I also found one of the tabs on a heat sensor had broken off but I'm assuming it was broken by the technician because the tab wasn't in the clip on the wire. So the sensors came in a pack of 3 (all of them together) for 70$. Now remember I've never taken a dryer apart before or even seen the inside of one, except where I'd put my clothes. The repair cost me 184$ including tax and took me about 2 hours. I asked the day after the technician was at my house for the quote and never received one. I asked the technician what was wrong with it exactly while he was there and he wouldn't say. Just that the parts were in stock and he could apply the service call fee to the repair if i did it the next day. There was absolutely no evidence a fire had ever taken place. I emailed them to let them know what I had found and to complain about the shady service call and no one responded. I offered to forget the whole thing happened if my $ was refunded. Still no reply. Unfortunately I have no recourse but to tell the world odar appliance repair did not offer any of their claimed customer service or honesty when they came for my service call. I would not recommend any one use them as a reputable repair provider Regards, Mark Gillian
