A dreadful mistake. Get a teenager with a shovel and you'll have a lot less grief. They have committed multiple breaches of contract that have lead to health & safety issues for our residents and property. 1. For the spring contract, he agreed to clear the weeds off our property and only after multiple photos and phone calls this was done. 2. He agreed to provide photos after each snow clearing, he did not do this. After multiple requests (which were beyond rude and condescending) a photo was provided which showed one part of the walk shoveled while ignoring others. 3. He agreed to shovel and salt the city sidewalk, he did no do this. 4. He agreed to shovel the parking lot, he did not do this. 5. He agreed to shovel a path to our laundry room, he did not do this and claimed a "locked gate" prevented him from doing so. This is false as he was provided the numeric code. They will provide you with a very pretty contract that makes you think that he is going to do everything he says under the guise of being a reputable company. On informing Gus of all of these problems it's always an excuse, when we informed him that it was game over he reverts to threatening collections.
That's fine. Many years of small claims court experience here.
So to those reading this, you can now decide if you want to engage this process over some snow or just move along....
BEWARE OF COMPANY ETHICS
We entered into a contract for WEEKLY lawn maintenance.
By mid August this company had not attended to my property in over 3 weeks. He does not even contest this.
He charged my credit card on July 27th $426.58 CAD for August months service and products. These jobs were never performed. It is questionable ethics why he is charging my credit card for services that had not been performed, let alone 4 days in ADVANCE of August is even in effect.?
After advising him he was in breach of our contract for failing to show for WEEKLY lawn maintenance, he subsequently charged my credit card for SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER services !Furthermore I expressed my dissatisfaction over the work performed on eves troughs as I had leaves and plants still growing in the troughs. He advised on July 28th email he would be "happy to come by and redo the eaves" however he had never shown up.
The contract is very clear of the requirement of weekly services, and he breached this contract. Subsequently I have researched this man and his business and found many similar complaints on the internet about him for the same issue. "Misuse of people' credit cards" and "inability to show up according to his agreed contract". This is a pattern. BBB gives him a F rating!
The amount in dispute is: $901.18cad in overcharges for product, services not received.
Anyone wanting further information or copies of these can contact me at mbacchin2013@hotmail.com
This company and it's owner operator Gus cannot be trusted with your lawn or credit card. I hired Gus and his company Progressive Lawn Service to provide weekly cutting of my lawn. The contract which had some odd clauses (ie. if any tools used to cut my grass got damaged, I would be responsible for the repair or replacement costs. ) I crossed clauses like this from the contract. Gus cannot mow a lawn. It was uneven, poorly trimmed and cut too short. While I was paying for weekly cuts, Gus would decide when and if I needed a cut. This resulted in missed weekly cuts. Only after the credit card company threatened to revoke their service did Gus agree to refund some of the over charges. Gus was a nightmare. I wish I had done my homework on Progressive Lawn Service. The internet is full of complaints about this company and Gus .
Do not do business with Progressive Lawn Maintenance. Gus, the company owner has no "œcrew" that work for him - as he claims. He is a one man operation. Do not sign a contract with him - you will be ripped off. He ripped me off for $105.94
When we initially hired him, he advised he needed a credit card # for billing purposes. He then advised that he pre-bills for his services, but after we raised an issue with him about billing for services not rendered he agreed to only bill us on our credit card on a weekly basis - until we were sure of the quality of his work. After cutting our grass for the second time, he billed us for four additional lawn cuttings.
Now - on to the quality of work that was performed. The first time he showed up he left two bags of lawn trimmings on our driveway (he agreed in writing to remove all lawn trimmings). We had to phone him to have them picked up. He also tied up some cuttings that were way to long to be picked up by the Toronto Sanitation Department. He was advised of this, but did nothing about it. They are still sitting in my driveway - three weeks later.
The second time he was supposed to have shown up (while we away on vacation), two neighbours and a family member advised us the grass was not cut. As we could not independently verify this - we had to give him the benefit of the doubt. I personally don't believe he cut the grass.
The third time he actually showed up and cut the grass. Lousy job. He actually missed sections of the lawn. I have the pictures to prove it - tufts of grass completely missed. Again; he left two bags of lawn cuttings on our driveway. When my wife complained to him this time, he said that it costs him money to get rid of the grass and that he would have to charge us more to get rid of it despite his agreement in writing to do so. When my wife demanded that he pick up the cuttings, he said in a threatening tone he was coming over to our home in five minutes and then hung up on her. Having read previous
complaints about this guy, I interpreted this as a threat. Other individuals on the HomeStars and Brownbook sites have also complained and advised he is confrontational.
When he showed up at the property I met him at the sidewalk and said I no longer wanted to do business with him. I advised that I would be happy to pay him for the services he had provided, but wanted my credit card reimbursed for the remainder of the pre-billed amount. He told me to F-off and that he would not credit my card! He then proceeded to call the Police and claimed I had threatened him. Complete and utter BS! The Police showed up and advised that our only recourse was to take him to small claims court.
We had to contact the credit card company and cancel our card to avoid having him bill us again. Have filed a complaint with the BBB.
