After meeting with several different contractors, I decided to choose Ted for the job. After several meetings with him, I felt he understood the importance of my oak cabinets and ensured me he knew what he was doing. Unfortunately this was not the case, and my "stress free" renovation has turned into a 9 week nightmare. I fired Ted after only 5 days. My first issue was his work crew. When he wasn't here the girls kind of stopped working. They spent more time and effort scraping old paint off their work table than they did sanding my cabinet doors. The paint chips left on my driveway when they left was unbelievable. When painting my family room, one girl was sanding the patches, while the other was applying paint on a different wall. Primer was never used and the paint and primer in one did not cover the newly patched areas. My biggest issue however, was the treatment of my cabinet doors. The wood doors were being sanded with electric sanders in a circular motion, sanding against the grain. This totally ruined the grain of the doors. When I asked his girls to please sand with the grain, they said okay, an hour later, they were in my kitchen priming the doors. When they left I inspected the doors and to my dismay, they weren't even cleaned properly, some of them had grime on one side and primer on the other. I'm no carpenter, but I am aware of how wood is to be treated before staining or painting. And even though my cabinets were to be painted, in my opinion they were not prepared properly. I told Ted I no longer wanted him on the job...he asked me for money for work done, to which I agreed, time is money. During his 5 days here, Ted ordered my laminate countertops. Because I was now without a contractor, I called to have a hold put on he countertops. 6 weeks later I am ready to have the countertops delivered. When they get here, surprise, they didn't fit. Ted measured for them wrong. After 2 more weeks of communicating with the manufacturer and Lowes, I had to reorder an install and pay for the repair and replacement of my countertop. The cost was almost as much as the original order. I appealed to Ted to cover the cost of this, stating to him that if he were still on the job, he would have had to pay for his errors. 2 weeks have gone by and I have not heard back from him. Teds stress free renovation claim is a lie. Not only has my 3 week kitchen renovation turned into a nightmare 9 week renovation, my families entire summer was ruined by this. I have also had to fork out way more money. Homeowners be warned, Ted is very good at making you think he knows what he is doing, but the amount of errors in my home done in only 5 days proves otherwise.
The renovation contract with Lynda was comprised of a number of items; remove and replace drywall on dinette room ceiling, relocate electrical receptacle in the ceiling, repair family room walls, painting of the ceiling, walls and stairwell, prepare and paint the kitchen cabinets, install pot light above the sink in the kitchen, remove a cabinet in the kitchen and replace with a different size cabinet, and new counters. Most of this work had been done, the cabinet had been removed and the countertop had been ordered. We were priming and painting the cabinets and I was in the process of trying to source the size of cabinet that Lynda had asked for. It was at this point that Lynda mentioned that she had a few issues;
* The painting in the family room where the drywall had been repaired. Lynda felt that we should have used primer first and then paint, I told her the paint we were using had primer in it, but none the less, we would still make sure Lynda was happy with the result by the end of the project.
* Lynda did not like the way the cabinet doors were being prepared for paint. I explained the process for preparing the cabinet doors to Lynda, the process for painting is considerably different than for staining. Lynda had originally wanted the cabinets stained, which I quoted, but due to the higher cost she chose to have the cabinets painted.
We continued to prepare the cabinet doors and started priming a few of the doors, at that point Lynda asked us not to come in the next morning as she had an appointment, she would be home by 11 a.m. and to contact her then. I called several times to see when we could return to site to continue but Lynda did not respond. After waiting more than a day Lynda sent an email asking us not to come in at all as she wanted to cancel the contract. Lynda did not provide the opportunity of a face to face meeting to address her concerns. If Lynda had let us do our job, I am absolutely sure she would have been extremely happy with the end result. We have done this type of work many times prior and have never had an issue. Lynda's concern about paint chips on the driveway amongst other things was an indication there was an underlying issue and I decided it was in my best interests to agree to cancel the contract.
I agreed to cancel the contract and I asked for payment for work completed, I conceded a considerable amount in an attempt to appease her. It was several days after this that I was allowed on site to pick up my tools and collect the payment. Lynda did not make herself available on this day to discuss her concerns either, it was her husband who paid me and allowed me in to get my tools.
Several weeks later Lynda contacted me about the counter. The laminate counter was ordered on the 2nd day, and was due to arrive in the 3rd week. Lynda claims it was measured incorrectly and she had to reorder it. Lynda did not call me to inspect the counter or verify whether or not a mistake was made. Lynda went ahead and decided to have alterations made to suit her need, and then she contacted me asking for compensation. I was not contacted ahead of time, or allowed to inspect the counter to ensure it was in fact a mistake, Lynda had cancelled the contract. I was not in a position to be in control of what was done on that site after the contract was cancelled, if I was, then the problem would have been resolved at my expense if it was in fact my error.
We pride ourselves on our workmanship and work habits, whether it is being punctual, communication or site maintenance. You can see this for yourself by reading some of our other references. We work in our clients homes, not an empty job site. The feedback from Lynda while valid in her eyes is very unfair and I felt the need to provide my side of the issue. I believe it is very important to work with clients to resolve concerns, but time and communication is required by both parties.
We met Renovations by Overmeyer through Trusted Pro. We interviewed 7 potential contractors to renovate our upstairs bathroom. We checked the references provided by Ted Overmeyer and when we selected this Company we increase the scope of the project to 2 bathrooms. Renovation by Overmeyer provided us with a proposal with the scope of the work, material that would be used, price, duration and payment schedule. Ted informed us that he would use only licence plumber and electrician. There was total transparency at the beginning of the project and he listened to our questions and answered all of our questions before the project began.
The scope of the work involved demolition, framing, tiling, plumbing, electrical, installing and everything else that was required to renovate 2 bathrooms. As the work progress Ted provided a daily report. When we came home on evenings we saw the work progress. The work was neat, steady and very detailed. Ted and his team worked exactly to the design specifications and if there were any changes we were informed. The end result was that the work was exceptional. The work exceeded our expectations. The work was top notch and the quality of the materials that he used was proven top of the line. We were so pleased with the quality. Committment and honesty that we asked Ted to provide a quote for another renovation project. His company took away the anxiety of working with someone new. He comes highly recommended. I give this Company a 5 out of 5. Thank you. C Flash
Ted and his crew of women finished our basement recently and we are so happy that we had them do it! Amazing work, great communication, no surprise costs and just awesome to deal with. Finished within the timeline given and very clean while they worked. Would recommend them to anyone looking to have work done in their home.
We had Ted and his crew complete our basement. I can not say enough good things about it. They were professional, neat and clean. They communicated everything to us. We never had to wonder what was happening. He always met his timelines that were quoted. It was such a pleasant, stress free experience. I recommend him to all my friends and family. The finished products looks fantastic
My wife and I had the pleasure of hiring Ted and his team through a personal recommendation. Ted and his team of girls installed extensive hardwood flooring throughout our home. Their workmanship was excellent, as each member of the team took pride in completing each room. After each day the team thoroughly cleaned up as they prepared for the following day. The team was always on time, reliable, knowledgeable and very friendly. Ted's quote was competitively priced and we would highly recommend him and his team.

We had the pleasure of having Ted and his team renovate our bathroom. The job involved tearing out an existing shower, relocating a new shower to the other side of the room and refinishing the walls. I was very impressed with the attention to detail, the quality of the work and the daily clean-up that was done to minimize the dust spread to the rest of the house. Ted was easy to work with and was friendly and we will definitely use his services again. Ted is a perfectionist and it shows in the finished product. We would highly recommend using Ted and his team for your project. You won't be disappointed!

We hired Ted for a major renovation including not only the kitchen but almost the entire main floor. From the very beginning we noticed the punctuality of his team. The entire job was done in a very professional manner and by the schedule. They cleaned every single day prior to leaving and at the end of the job the place was spotless. This is a team that I would consider anytime for additional jobs. Thanks Ted and team.
We originally hired Ted and his team to update a very tired basement bathroom but expanded the scope of the project to other parts of the basement to include new walls, floors and ceilings. The main focus was taking a small 3 piece bathroom and expanding the size of the room to create a 4 piece bathroom which meant taking down walls and moving all the plumbing.
On first meeting Ted we knew we wanted him and his team to do the job. He was totally professional right from the start. He listened and understood what we were looking for, worked with us throughout the 4 week project and brought the vision to life exactly how we wanted it.
We had a certain timeline to get it done and Ted and his team delivered on time and on budget. They made this a stress free and pleasurable experience and the transformation in the basement is amazing.
We are planning on having him back in the new year to update the main bathroom upstairs. We have already recommended him to friends of ours and he is starting their basement in the next few weeks.
Ted and his team have done various jobs for us in the past year starting with a kitchen backsplash then a large and difficult painting job and ending with installing laminate flooring. All the work was perfectly done in a short amount of time. I can highly recommend Ted and will certainly use him again for any work we may need in the future.
The work Ted and his crew did on our bathroom vanity and floor is top notch. They were punctual, courteous and hard working. We will definitely use Ted's services again, and highly recommend him for any renovation job!

Ted and his team at Renovations by Overmeyer, I have been working with Ted for a while now providing him with carpet and carpet installations, supplied his clients with laminate and hardwood flooring to be installed by himself and his crew. By the time I am called in to his projects he is well into the renovation. With over 20 years in my field I've walked into many jobs and have seen it all. I am always impressed by the quality of work that has been put in and the very obvious degree of planing he exhibits. Ted has always given me plenty of time to arrange my end of the renovation and paid me for my services in full and always in a timely manner. When I see his number on my phone when he calls I already know that everything is under control on site and well planed out so as to make doing my job a breeze. Renovations by Overmeryer, Great people to work with and for! Thanks for everything Ted and I look forward to the next job! Kind Regards Sal Tiburzio Owner at Donewell Flooring
