I hired Blake to remove the closet in my apartment, and he seemed very confident he'd be able to get it done within 5 days.
The price was reasonable, (similar to 3 other quotes) and I chose him because he was wasn't pushy about getting extra work and came across like somebody who was very professional.
I'll start by saying Blake is obviously good at general contracting. He demo'd the drywall and the closet, moved a few switches, and did the flooring and baseboards. However, his finish is very poor, his timing and professionalism was also sub-par.
It started to frustrate me when I came home and noticed dry mud in my bathtub. I was fine with him washing his tools in my bathtub (though to some that is very unprofessional), so long as it was cleared by the end of the day. I pointed this out to him and he apologized.
The next day he did the same thing - left dry mud in the bathtub that I had to clean out.
It gets worse - I also noticed scratches in my toilet bowl - Blake had washed his mixer out in the bowl, and didn't even tell me about it! I believe he would've tried to get away with it if I didn't call him out - I waited 2 days before calling him and telling him to sort it out. He bought porcelain paint and did a very poor cover up (see pictures), so I told him he would need to do to it again so it was not visible. He did a better job but I can still see it. I just don't think his eye for finish is all that good.
The work was 2 weeks over schedule - which I am absolutely fine with, if of course the work is great. However, the drywall corners are not completely straight, and the walls bow slightly. I told him and he tried his best to fix it, but it's still a little off.
He tried to charge me for approximately 12-15 days parking (can't remember exactly), even though he had quoted 5 days. He did however change the quote to 5.
As for flooring and baseboards - we agreed to use different flooring (as he couldn't find the exact original) to give it a slight 'accent'.
When he returned to complete it, the job was done very poorly - snapped baseboards and the flooring wasn't perfectly straight. I told him he'd need to come back to remedy it, which he did, but it was still not as good as if he had pulled off old flooring and cut it dead straight (like he said he would).
Overall, the job was completed, but the finish was low quality, the work took 3 times as long, I had to tell him too many times to fix a poor job, and he made too many shortcuts which is really not what you expect from a professional.
The hardest thing is that Blake is such a nice guy, I found it really difficult to tell him how unacceptable his work was. If you need a hand for general contracting work I think Blake is decent, but if you care about finish and attention to detail - I wouldn't trust his eye, and his professional standards were not really something I care to pay for again.
We hired Blake and his crew to do a variety of complex renovations during the summer of 2017. We were very impressed with the work performed. We have a 100 year old house that we were renovating - we started with a new deck, some roof repairs, water sealing of the premises, addition of motion sensors, lighting, some electrical modifications. You get the idea. We added to the project as everyone knows once you open up an old house - there are lots of surprises. We were impressed with the Salish United Crew as they took on each project and completed it well within all the estimates.provided. We recommend this crew highly as reliable, honest and willing to take on any project. Thanks Salish United Construction.

We employed the Salish United Construction team in July 2017 and have been very satisfied with the work performed and professional approaches employed. We hired them to do finishing work in about 900 square feet of an addition to our North Vancouver home. Previously, work had ground to a halt after the initial contractor seemed more interested in writing invoices for "extras" than finishing the work at hand. Our experience with Blake and his staff has been a pleasure by comparison. Work proceeded as specified with no delays and no need for do-overs. Communication was excellent and it is a pleasure to deal with a contractor who is on site every day. I have no hesitancy in recommending Salish United Construction to other homeowners.
This was our first renovation, but Blake and his team made it a very smooth experience overall. His team was very professional, courteous and organized. Blake gave us a fair quote at the beginning and stuck with it. The quality of their work was high as well as the quality of the materials used. In addition to the main project, they also performed multiple other fixtures around the apartment. I really enjoyed working with them and I look forward to working with them in the future.
Salish United Construction is very proffessional and he was quite flexible with his estimates and saved me money. for example, he reviewed the work that had to be done, tore down the wall to inspect the problem. we discussed the issues and came to an agreement. therefor, did not have to call a plumber as his handyman experience took care of the problem. all together he has refinished my floors, walls, and miscellanious. throughout his work, he would come across issues and fix them as they go which satisfied me a lot.
highly recommend Salish and his crew.
I liked the efficiency of Salish United, the project was completed in a timely manner and up to standards. The crew were flexible and communicated well when working with the electricians and golf course staff.
