My husband and I, who both love cooking from scratch, have wanted to do a kitchen renovation since we got married 11 years ago. Now in our second home, we finally decided to commit to the intimidating project. Working with SG Designs made it easy from design to installation. Scott was very honest about what features we wanted would work or not work, and even found cheaper options for the kitchen sink we wanted when we thought it would be out of reach of our budget. He was straight forward on costs from start to finish, and when I broke my leg during the renovation, was even willing to install an additional handrail on the stairs for my safety. In sum, Scott does beautiful, very professional work, stays within budget, works faster than I would have expected, will spend extra time saving you money, and truly cares about the ideas and general well-being of the people who hire him.

We had Scott come in to renovate our upstairs bathroom. He made the entire process smooth, taking the time to thoroughly explain and answer any questions we had as well as offer great design suggestions. He was easy to reach, promptly returning calls and answering emails.

During the renovation, Scott laid down drop paper to protect our floors and always tidied up after himself. We appreciate that he dedicates himself to one project at a time, allowing for a quick turnaround time.

I contacted Scott to bid on a flooring job which involved removing carpet, leveling the floor and installing Luxury Vinyl Planking throughout our home. It was my first interaction working with a Contractor. At first I feared the experience as I have very high standards and want the motivation of my contractor to be about Quality and not just about money. Scott came into my home and made me feel comfortable with the process. He provided a quote equal to the large flooring stores but felt it better to give him the business. His quote promised to be done in 1-2 weeks and could begin the following Monday. He picked out a LVP that was perfect for our home. From Day 1 he showed up on time and worked very hard. As indicated my standards are quite high and had some things that I needed addressed. He was understanding and did what he could to make me happy with the work. Scott finished on-time and on-budget. At the end of the project, my wife and I are very happy with our new floor.

We hired Scott to do a kitchen renovation in our 85 year old home in River Heights. It was a project we were dreading as from past experiences, most of our Reno’s have been challenging and difficult.

The reason we chose Scott was because he assessed our tiny kitchen and provided us with guidance and suggestions. I trusted his opinion and I am so grateful I did. We bought a three bedroom bungalow which was in need of a complete renovation. Former owners had smoked heavily and the home was very dated. Scott painted the interior, put in quartz countertops and completely updated the bathrooms with new fixtures and a walk in shower. The bathrooms are small but he made it work beautifully. New light fixtures were installed which also made a big difference. We are 100% happy with the work and Scott accomplished all of this in 3 weeks! We plan on doing the exterior next year and we will definately be calling Scott. Scott was very easy and pleasant to work with. He had the skill and experience to deal with a complex basement bathroom remediation with confidence and efficiency. His prices were reasonable and his work was high quality and expedient. I am very happy with the repairs he did to my basement plumbing and the new bathroom that he has constructed in place of the old, problematic one. Scott was hired to do our kitchen Reno and to take down a wall. He is good at designing the kitchen, building IKEA kitchen sets and putting them in place, but other than that he fell short on his other “skills”, The transition from wall to wall was a poor job and uneven, the plumbing for the sink causes the sink to clog. He suggested I sand down the walls lightly and put a coat of paint on and hire a plumber to fix the sink. WHAT? Isn’t that what he was hired to do? HMMM. The other trades such as electrical and drywall/taping were done with his contacts and were done great. Just make sure to really look over the job prior to paying the final bill cause once he’s gone, he’s gone.

Scott provided me with exceptional service and thanks to him and his team I am able to call my house a home again.

Four years ago I unfortunately ran into a renovation nightmare and most of my home was left a mess due to poor workmanship from a previous contractor. Once finally mustering the courage to finally resume the work I found Scott and we are incredibly thankful for him.

Scott was not only professional and courteous but also showed me time and time again how big of a heart he has. His attention to small details and workmanship blew us away.

Not only was Scott able to complete our project early but also kept on budget and included us in ever step of the renovation process. Scott recently completed a renovation of my very dated bathroom and it looks fantastic. I am so happy with the results. Project was completed on time and within budget. Scott was very patient with me and my indecisiveness when picking out all the fixtures and offered some great suggestions. He is very professional and it shows in his workmanship. Scott & his team did a great job. All the old kitchen appliances, cupboards and flooring were removed from our property & disposed of. The new flooring, cabinets & countertops look wonderful. Scott left the house as clean as possible each day and completed the job on time and on budget.

This was my first time that I hired a contractor to do a major project. I was nervous. I came across SG Design & Renovation on the Trusted Pros website and thought I would select this company for a quote. I contacted Scott and he was willing to come see me at the end of my work day. I knew fairly quickly that he was someone I felt comfortable with and that I would trust with my money, my vision and delivering on his promises. He spent an entire hour going over what I wanted and making some suggestions about decisions that I hadn't thought of.

I received my quote and was really happy that he worked within my budget and could deliver what I wanted. His quote was very specific and detailed.

Scott showed up at 7:20 in the morning and started rebuilding my bathroom from scratch. He started on a Monday and finished the following Monday. I couldn't believe how fast everything came together and the completed project was better than I could have imagined!

His work is excellent and my bathroom looks almost too good to use! Scott takes his work very seriously and everyday there was so much progress - including ensuring everything was cleaned up.

Moved into a new house in Sage Creek but the basement was only the standard insulated exterior walls and vapor barrier. SG Design (Scott) showed up promptly to give a quote and provide great advice on materials to use, the layout of the basement and a time line as to when the project would be started and completed. His quote included all of the materials to be used to complete the job. This also included obtaining all of the required permits and arranging for all inspections. If you wanted something extra or liked a particular bathroom vanity for example, your job as the owner was to ensure it arrived in time to be installed as Scott likes to stick to his timeline. The basement was started and finished just like Scott said it would be once he was hired. We we were extremely satisfied with his craftsmanship and those of the trades he brought in. Basement was just under 900 sq ft and was completed in just over a month with no delays during construction. Especially pleased with his bathroom design and the finished project which really stands out. His suggestion and design of the fireplace placement and surround really made a statement in the main rec room. A very satisfied customer who would recommend SG Design in a heartbeat.

Last fall we hired Scott to do a complete basement renovation, except for our basement bathroom which we only had him rough in. We were so pleased with his work that when it came time for us to finish our bathroom, there was no question that we wanted to contact Scott.

The job entailed building a custom shower, building and installing a corner platform tub, installing floating cabinets, tiling the floor and tub platform, and installing in-floor heating. As with the work that Scott did completing our basement, the final product was nothing less than stunning.

I found Scott on the TrustedPros website. After reading through the reviews of his previous work, I contacted him to provide me with a quote for the restoration/renovation of my basement which had been destroyed by a sewer backup several years ago. The space was unusable after the flood, was dated with virtually no insulation, had old electrical, and substandard plumbing.

Scott came out that week and spent over an hour doing a thorough walk-through of my basement and discussing the options for what I wanted to have done. With the exception of an unfinished ceiling (so that I could complete future electrical/plumbing work on my main floor) and only a roughed in four piece bathroom to be completed at a later date, my plan was to completely refinish my basement with a modern look and a completely revised floor plan.

I had a clear idea of what I wanted for a final product and while Scott was more than willing to work within my vision, he pointed out those things in my plan that could not be done because they didn’t comply with building code. I found this reassuring as I could tell that Scott was uncompromising in his standard of work and that things would be done properly; all of which proved true in the end. Although I wanted my basement to look great (which it now does), more importantly I wanted assurance that the work would be done right and that I would never again be plagued by the problems I’ve had in the past.

Scott is extremely professional and approachable and was willing to answer any questions that I had. He was onsite every morning and would communicate with me regularly about the progress of the work and what was coming next. The work space was kept clean at the end of every day and it was clear to see the progress that was being made from day to day. Scott not only met but exceeded my expectations. He paid close attention to details and ensured that all the little things were done even though they were not specifically listed in the scope of work.

I am all too familiar with renovation horror stories; projects that run months over schedule, cost overruns, outcomes that are less than desirable. I did not have any of these problems with Scott. The price he quoted me was what I paid and his estimate of 4-6 weeks to complete the project was more than ample; the completed project passed all city inspections and was done in just over 3 weeks! The space was move in ready and turned out even better than I could have imagined.

From day 1 of the project I was praising Scott’s work. I will continue to do so to anyone that has any kind of renovation work they are looking to have done. I will certainly be contacting Scott for future renovation projects.

We found Scott (SG Design and Renovation) when we posted our project on the Trusted Pros website. We had multiple contractors come and take a look at our project but Scott was the most professional and thorough. He spent 3 hours with us going through all the details for our dream basement and taking measurements. He was able to get back to us with an extremely detailed quote later that evening. I like the work that Scott did on my en suite bathroom. When scheduling the job he set the expectation that he would start the project on the 3rd week of February and possibly the week before. He was able to start earlier and was also finished earlier too. He did not over promise. Very punctual and would communicate when he needed to start earlier in the morning so there were no surprises. Scott is blunt and tells it like it is which made it easier for me to see my options and move forward with decisions. He kept the work area clean and didn't leave any garbage behind. He also exceeded my expectation by installing my doors which we had not discussed in the initial quote. Overall satisfied with how the project went and looking forward to working with him on my next renno.

We were very lucky to have found Scott to do our basement renovation. He was the only contractor that spent several hours making up a detailed quote for the project. This is very important as most contractors give you an estimate and lots of surprises $$$ as the work commences. I can't say enough about SG Design and Renovations. Scott knew exactly what I wanted and went above and beyond to get it done. The shower was custom and the end result was beautiful. Scott finished almost 2 weeks before deadline and even made it in during a blizzard. When the wall was knocked down, I was just going to put a strip of carpet down to cover the floor where the wall had been but Scott surprised me with a new carpet in the whole room at no extra cost. I already plan to call Scott for my new deck around my pool in the spring. I will recommend him to everyone!!!!

From the estimate through the construction, Scott was professional, helpful and explanatory. He worked with my budget and the bathroom reno was great! The work was cleaned up every day and he was always prompt. I loved the result!

I contracted Scott Gorrie to add exterior rigid insulation and replace the vinyl siding on my house. It was a complicated job because of poor work by previous contractors on a 62 year old house, leading to areas of rotten sheeting and original wood siding which was still hidden under the old vinyl! There is also a 26 year old addition which had thicker walls than the original house, and some windows were recessed while others stood out from the outside walls, which further complicated things.

Scott patiently and thoroughly corrected each problem as it arose, and kept us completely informed throughout the process. He even took the time to text photos of problem areas to me. He removed all the old wood siding and replaced any rotten sheeting. He compensated for the thicker walls of the addition with the thickness of the new insulation, and built out all the window trims to make them even. When there was more than one way to fix a problem Scott always involved us in all decisions. His workmanship and attention to detail are outstanding and the house looks fantastic!

Scott is a true professional who can be trusted to do it right, and his price was very reasonable. He is easy to work with, respectful, and the job was completed exactly on schedule. What more can you ask? I won't even bother shopping around next time, I'll just call Scott.

Less than a year ago we contracted Scott to replace two tubs and tub surrounds as well as complete a basement bathroom renovation.

Scott was timely in providing a quote and work schedule and arrived to complete the work when he said he would.

About two months ago we noticed that one of the surrounds had separated from the tub. Over the course of two or three weeks I attempted to contact Scott by phone, text and email with no response. We then noticed a similar problem with the second surround.

My husband then phoned Scott and was able to talk to him on the second attempt. He explained the situation and asked Scott to come to look at the problem and correct it. Scott said he did not have his appointment book with him and that he was very busy and unsure of when he would be able to come. He was to call back the next day with an appointment time. That was two weeks ago and we have not heard back from Scott despite three calls to remind him.

At this point neither of the showers are useable as water seeps between the tub and surround.

We understand busy but not the lack of response and not looking after customers. Scott was courteous and communicated well during the initial project, but the lack of his response after the project is reflected in our ratings.

We see several satisfied customer reviews on the website and are sad and frustrated that we are not among them. We hope that Scott will contact us to rectify the issue and restore our trust in his company and in the Trusted Pros website.

From getting the quote done to job completion Scott and his crew was fantastic to work with. Not only did the job get done within my budget, but Scott was great at informing me of any changes to the job and coming up with solutions/improvements to the original plan.

SG Design & Renovation did an excellent job on my new bathroom. The communication was very good and easy to understand. They did a very good job with staying in my suggested budget. SG Design & Renovation would be my fist choice for any other renovations to my house.

Upon finding Scott on this link, he was very prompt in replying, and coming to the house to assess the necessary work, and provided a quote within 48 hours. WOW. We've been in touch with other contractors, some of which took 5 months to provide a quote.

The fact that Scott is adept in all points of renovations work - plumbing, electrical, construction, etc., made him our choice to do the job.

Scott and his team were very courteous, and took great care not to disrupt the rest of the house during renovations. He worked diligently, putting in full honest days, and always cleaned up after each day. The scope of the work was completed in 2/3 the time we estimated.

If I had any questions, he took the time to explain things in detail, which showed his knowledge and expertise in his line of work.

Now we have 4 brand new bathrooms; shower, vanity, and toilet beautifully installed, along with new lighting, tiles, and paint, giving each bathroom a warm and inviting look.

After all of the stories you hear about contractors not showing up, not completing the job, etc., my husband and I felt we really lucked out when we found Scott. My husband found SG Design and Renovation on this website. We read all of his reviews and felt that the two critical ones were a result of a lack of communication to the contractor from the client about what they wanted and the fact that he cannot read minds. We think it is very important to communicate what you want to your contractor when he is there and not after the fact. We felt that if we did not agree with Scott's vision, we told him what we thought and we all had a discussion of the pros and cons and went from there. As Scott is the professional and this is his career and we are hiring him because we are not the pro, we learned why some of our choices were not necessarily the best ones thanks to his professional advice.

We hired SG Design and Renovation to renovate both of our bathrooms. Scott did an amazing job and we will enjoy these bathrooms for many years to come. Scott quoted us a time frame to complete the work and ended up finishing the project within his stated time frame. He quoted us a price and completed his work within this budget. He showed up faithfully every day and put in a full day's work. He did his best to keep everything clean and tidy. Scott was always very approachable with any questions we had and we learned a lot from him. Scott is trustworthy and reliable.

Superb craftsmanship - the experience is very obvious, from the thorough yet speedy work. It's hard to find someone who does finishing work so well. I am more than pleased with the finished product.

SG Renovation did a great job on my flooring . It was difficult to put in, as it is a click high grade vinyl. He was on time with everything , arriving and finishing . The mouldings were done after, and it looked perfect . Everyone complements on what a nice job!

Scott was great start to finish. Answered our call and provided an estimate in a timely fashion. Took the time to answer our questions about the product he was installing. He started the work when he said he would and he completed it on time. Very professional and knowledgeable individual. Would definitely recommend hiring him!

When Scott came to build our deck we were quite impressed. He built a beautiful large deck, cleaned up all his mess and was very professional. Which is why were very surprised when we discovered a year later that the deck wasn't built to National Building Code (which was part of the deal). When we spoke to Scott about it he said "...that's bullshit...it is to code...", and since we are not professional builders (the reason we hired him to begin with). We looked further into this and were given excerpts from the National Building Code that our deck did not meet.

We forwarded this information into a lengthy email to Scott and asked him to correct the 2-3 issues that were sighted. Scott's response was quite defensive which I could understand given the circumstances, but he basically told us he wasn't going to do anything about it. When we responded back that we weren't asking for any refund simply that he fix the issues ( to meet the building code) I waited a full week and he did not respond in any way. We are now having to pay someone to fix the problems even though we paid thousand of dollars to Scott to have it built properly to begin with. His promises of fixing any issues in the beginning are clearly empty....

When looking for contractor this company is the best, Scott is very professional and trustworthy he renovated my bathroom and the job was perfect , Scott is exceptional to detail and clearly knows what he is doing.he picked out all my colors , tiles, vanity , taps and lighting as I live in the Cayman islands and was not there to do this I had all my trust in him and he proof truly to be the right person.when hiring someone for your work you definitely need to go with this company you will not be disappointed. I often feel overwhelmed when strangers are in the house but I did not feel like that with Scott. He went about his business while we went about ours, while at the same time not ignoring us completely. Even the kids liked him. When we wanted something done Scott did not give up until he found a way, example: we wanted a door build into the Car Garage from our house but because of the structure and layout of our house it seemed impossible, after hitting a dead end a couple of times he found a way. No more hauling groceries through a snowstorm. Thanks Scott. Scott would also go beyond his duty and do extra things for us, example Jake mentioned he wanted to move the garage door opener switch to the new door and Scott did it, this is only one of the things Scott went out of his way to do. All the crews Scott brought out to do work were really friendly too. Scott does quality work and gets it done. When he says something we can depend on it. He communicates well and makes sure we know the what's and whys of things. The project was done in the time frame he said it would be. His estimate was accurate. I plan to hire Scott again for our next project. And Yes that second picture is the same house after Scott was done.

YOU GET WAHT YOU PAY FOR LESSON LERNED..well Scott came of as a nice guy and he came in to redo our shower that a reptutile company messed up on. All i can say is we put our trust in scott and what we got i am speechless from messed up tile cuts to grouting not completed to the drywall being banged up around the shower. Also our shower niche ended up looking like a dogs breakfast. And when my wife asked questions about not being happy with certain aspects of the job it was always once the grout is in it will look fantastic. Well it is far from fantastic Scott, and on emailing him about my impression of putting are trust in him there was no reply to even defend his view point on what he had done. I honestly believe that we were taken advantage of and we trusted this guy to do things right and this is not the case and not the results we got. and when my wife asked about him doing things he was supposed to it was just put some silicone on the places, like this is not what we paid for but at the end of the day do ur homework on ppl and make calls. Lesson learned. Now we can't use this shower at all and we do not have the money to replace what was done. Very disappointed and sad over this experience. and the fact that what he said he was going to do with the floor is relevel it none of this was done and now are shower floor feels squishy in spots like its giving way, So not sure how we will deal with this now or how we can ever fix it!!! I will be further submitting pics of the floor siliconed down tiles if they let me..... giving this job any stars is a major mistake

We are so very pleased with the work that Scott did for us. He really went above and beyond with the bathroom renovation, which ended up being almost a complete tear down and rebuild. He did a fantastic job on everything. He was always friendly and courteous and respected our home as if it were his own. We would definitely recommend him and will be sure to have him do any work we need done in the future.

We were in desperate need of a timely bathroom reno and were pleased that Scott was able to squeeze us into his schedule prior to the birth of our baby (due today!). Scott removed all fixtures from the bathroom and repaired the water damage that was eating away our shower floor before installing a new shower floor and wrapping the floors and walls with a watertight membrane to ensure we would never have water damage and mould to contend with again. He then did a major tiling job throughout the room, painted, and installed new fixtures. We can't wait to take a shower in our new bathroom! Scott was true to the timeline outlined in the contract, remained within the quoted budget, and has a great personality, making him very easy to work with. He was easy to get in touch with and was a clear communicator. The man sure does WORK when on the job! From the moment he arrives to the moment he goes home, he gives all of his effort to get the job done. Thanks, Scott, for helping us out!
