This company is a fraud. After they signed the contract agreement they asked me to pay money for buying the materials. After he took 10.000 $ they disappeared. I know Calgary court is suing them for fraud. Don’t hire this company. Their License is not active anymore.
Worst contractor I have dealt with in a long time.
Wanted progressive payments upfront but he does not have that permit in place with the province. Business is being investigated by the province, do your research.
Always looking to cut corners, upcharge from the contract and poor communication.
Didn't return calls, deals with texting and very defensive.
Previously posted a poor review and he threatened a law suit.
Contract stated work to be done in 10-15 days, was close to 3 months.
Not recommended.
Very interesting, I will publish soon.
They did a great job for an excellent price. If you have a tight budget and need good quality renovations/work done YYC Custom Renovations is a great choice.
Thank you
Very happy with my experience! Everything from planning to demolition to renovations was painless, quick and clearly communicated. Would recommend these guys to anyone I know.
Thank you
Took money and never did any work. Constant lies and many excuses. I don't actually believe he is a qualified or journeyman carpenter. Never give this man money up front to buy supplies!
People should be more honest Karen you declined the refund I have proof
This guy is a conman. He has taken $5000 from me and has done nothing. I signed the contract with him in April, it was my first development project ever and so I told him that I am not sure what all permits we need for this job. He said he will take care of all the permits I don’t have to worry about it and that was mentioned in the contract as well that he will handle all the permits and I was not supposed to pay him for the permits. He first tried delay the project by applying for building permit directly without getting the development permit. The city then informed us that you need to take development permit first. Then I applied for development permit although it was his job and also he didn’t care to check what’s the progress of permits, whenever the city needed something I had to call this guy and he would try to waste days in getting back to me and then to the city. I had also given him contract to make some cabinets, change hot water tank, outdoor path etc. and I asked him he can start this work till we get permit for separate entrance as the rest of the job doesn’t need permit but he just kept giving me stupid reasons. Also he took more than $1000 from me for the building permit even though it was written in the contract that he will take care of it. After all this when I told him I don’t want to work with him and wanted to cancel the contract he threatened me. Luckily I have all the recordings and messages. Once you give him money he will keep asking for more and more money (extra money for stupid things that customer should not be paying for) and if you say no and try to cancel the contract he will threaten you and won’t even give back your deposit. I signed the contract with him in April and till September he did nothing at all. I can’t even tell here what I went through for all that time. It was so stressful, had sleepless nights because he had $5000 of my hard earned money. I am preparing to go to civil court against this guy. Have already complained to service Alberta. Also check https://www.bbb.org site, they have mentioned that a case has been filed against this guy by Alberta Government.
2020 Summer finally arrived and like most of the people I had plans to get some work done in my backyard. I did my search and called many concrete contractors but they were all extremely busy in their projects. Finally I was able to hire a person ………I called him and he came at once to give me a quote, start date and date of completion of this project. He said he could start in less than a week and finish in 5 days. I was super excited on finding someone who could complete this long awaited project. After verbally finalizing the details of the project he came back with some papers to get the contract signed. It looked very professional. Also he brought a guy who he called a part of his crew, to start the digging.
His seriousness in this project made me feel that it will take 3 days to finish the project instead of 5. He asked me for some initial deposit ($ 1000) to buy the supplies. Also he told me I am going to order the required materials and be there on Monday but my guy is here doing the digging. THAT WAS THE LAST TIME I SAW MOHAMMAD. The story BEGINS now.
After some time he left I went in the back yard to check the digging being done by his worker and found he also had already left after doing the minimal digging. Finally on Monday 11 am I called Mohammad that he was supposed to be here at 10am and was told his house is flooded and he needs some time so will come on Thursday. It sounded genuine so I kept my calm. Although I knew the work is carried out mainly by the workers but kept quiet. On Thursday he told me that his guy went for his brother’s wedding so he will come on Saturday. On Saturday he was not here again and I called him. He came up with a new story that his friend passed away so he can not come this week. At this point the frustration started as I have already paid him money and it did not seem he wants to complete this work.
To keep my mouth shut he had the crushed gravel delivered at my place. It was in small amount Also it was dumped on the road for another week as he did not send his guy to carry it to the area to be worked. After about a week and my many messages he sent his guy to remove the gravel from road to the site. The guy came with a bucket to carry the gravel. At that time my frustration was on peak as this guy did not have even a wheel barrow so I started questioning him and found that this guy works for him on part time basis and comes when he is called.
This guy started spreading the gravel on that area and I was told that he will come with a concrete expert in 2 days to pour concrete. To be noted that neither framing was done nor rebarring. On asking I was told it will be done at the time concrete will be poured. I shared my thoughts with a friend and he advised me to stop this work it will cost me more to remove this concrete so I called, emailed him to officially TERMINATE the contract.
Now that the contract ended he told me he will return the left over deposit in 30 days. In Three weeks later he sent me a text asking my contact details to send a cheque. Since that time I am waiting for his cheque.
Lesson Learnt:
Stay away from this guy. He will come at once for price quotes, give an attractive price to get hired and immediate dates to start the work, collects the initial deposit and never shows up.
Beware of Mohammad Gandour of YYC Custom renovations.
