I have a single car asphalt driveway (9 1/2 years).
I want to add asphalt on the left and right sides of the existing asphalt driveway.
(The present left and right sides are now covered by small gravel stones for the left and soil for the right).
How do I ask a contractor to do the job such that the end result (new left + existing + new right) would look as 1 expanded piece. I do not want a patch up job, I want a one piece 100% all look alike asphalt driveway. The expended asphalt driveway must all look alike.
Thanks
Firstly, the contractor should remove soil from the right side and put enough gravel before paving say 2" of fully compacted asphalt.
Put more gravel on the left for leveling in need. The left side and right side may need some weed control treatment before paving.
If the existing driveway needs some repairing, the contractor has to do some patching and crack sealing. You also may consider applying an overlay of asphalt over existing driveway if it is not going to be too thick.
Upon completion of paving the left and right, you may get a "seal coat" layer on top to make the entire looks 1 piece.
Thank you
Thanks for the reply.
Is there a good quality brand of asphalt that I should ask the contractor to use? Say a mix of % for components 1 and % for component 2 etc?
The most important thing result is that it must look as 1 larger piece at the end of the day. I do not want a patch up job.
Thanks
