I'm looking to vent a basement bathroom and wondering if there is a restriction as to how close to a window I can run the duct to the outside.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
John
John,
There is no set restriction for the discharge. You certainly do not want to install it over the window, keep as far as possible from the window with the discharge pointing down toward the ground.
I do not believe there is a requirement since its not venting any type of gas. However I would have it 3' away from any opening or other pipes just to be safe.
I think, min is a 2 ft. If you can go as far as you can from any openings. You can't go wrong with that in mind.
John,
I do not beleive there is a requirement, for a bathroom vent. However keep in mind that you do not want the air you a venting to come right back inside your house if someone leaves the window open.
3' should be good.
Good Luck!
I know there are some states in the US where vent cannot be closer than 4', but from our experience it's 3' here in the Richmond Hill and Markham area.
