Hello Terry,

Cambridge shingles are decent shingles. I'd probably rate them 3.5 to 4 out of 5. We use Certainteed Landmark shingles as our main shingle brand because they exceed the UL tests for sheer (tear) strength, impact strength (for hail), and algae resistant ratings. They are also 235lbs per square as opposed to other singles in its class like GAF Timeline which are about 209lbs per square. Cambridge shingles will do the job fine but if you're looking for something high quality and value I'd go with Certainteed.

Short Answer is a Rating of 2.5 out of 5

As a roofing material, shingles deteriorate well before their guaranteed lifespan, including Cambridge shingles as was confirmed by CBC Marketplace Investigation.

Below is a long answer if you intend to live in your house for more than 10-15 years:

Yes, it does cost more but Metal Roofing rather shingled roofing is the best solution since it'll outlast shingles by several decades and is fairly maintenance free. Installed properly it will last over 60 years and can easily be recycled in the end, unlike shingles. It's environmentally and energy efficient. When you go to sell your house the Metal Roof will pay for itself by giving your home a higher value.

Hi Terry,

Cambridge shingles are good brand, but not the best. They have the 30 year warranty and it is what most of our clients decide to go with because they are also very affordable. I give them 3.5 out of 5.

Thanks,
