In recent weeks I've noticed water damage in the corner of our kitchen coming from the ceiling. The bathroom is directly above this, but I can't find any source of the damage in the bathroom. I did re-caulk the bathtub faucets, etc, just in case they were the source and thought I'd fixed the issue, but there appears to be more water damage as of today.
Interestingly, both times that I've noticed the leaking area to be wet has been on days where snow and ice are melting and it's warmer outside. This is making me think that there is a leak in our roof causing the damage.
I'm looking for advice on what kind of repair is needed - roofing/plumbing/or something else?
Hi Heather,
Since you mentioned you usually see the water stains during milder weather, it could be a sign that there is water coming from the roof. This could be due to a bit of ice damming or something may just not be right with the roof. I would suggest getting a local professional roofer from your area to come out and do an assessment. Most good roofers do this free of charge and will provide you a written estimate as to what it would cost to fix the problem if it's coming from the roof.

Hello,
This sounds like you may have a leak from your roof. A good way to knopw is to go in the attack and look at the whole area and if you dont see any leaks from there it could be because you dont have drip edge. This allows water to flow right intio your eaves not behind the eave where water will go down into the walls.
Good luck and I hope this gave you a little insight.
