Hello there, I am looking to buy a house in London Ontario and it has stucco siding on both sides of the house. I was wondering if Stucco is a reliable and low maintanance option for exterior siding in your experience. I was also wondering what repair costs would be for minor or more sig. damage or wear on the siding. It looks great now, but looks can be deceiving. Are there particular things I should look out for.
My experience with stucco in Quebec was not good, the bulider has to know exactly what he-she was doing while installing stucco. Critical areas are around the windows and doors.
It should have all flashings properely installed otherwise it will be very painfull to deal with.
Also I would hire real inspector that would cost around $1000 or $1200 but done it the way it should be ie making sure the structure/frame of the place is in a good condition and has no history of leakages etc., Cracks on the surface is not a big deal but if you get moisture infiltrated insude the stucco, it will cost a lot.
