Wall #1: Remove part of a wall (approx 4.5 foot wall) where stove is currently and where, on the other side of the wall (living room/dining room), there is a propane fireplace. We will be wanting to install wood fireplace on another wall in the living room afterwards.
Kitchen Wall #2: Reconfigure one wall of floor cabinets (currently cabinets/counter curve into the kitchen - we want the counter/cabinets on that wall to go straight against the wall and extended by a few feet. On this wall, we would like to install a double sink (currently has only one sink) & we will leave the dishwasher in its present location on that same wall).
Wall #3: This wall has the fridge and some cabinets (approximately 5 foot wall) - to be taken down and fridge and cabinets to be reinstalled a few feet back (behind this wall currently is a pantry space). Once all this work is done, we will have room to install a kitchen island. We are thinking of having a gas range on the island - there is a propane line close by (from Wall #1 where propane fireplace currently is). We are not yet sure where we would install the oven.
We would like to be guided to do as much of the work as possible but would like to work closely with an experienced contractor who could guide us and also do the jobs best left to professionals as we go along. We are hoping to save as much money as we can by doing what we can ourselves, including salvaging and refinishing the current cabinets, possibly building the island ourselves, doing demo work and cleanup, etc.) We are hoping to start this renovation after the Christmas holidays (Jan/Feb 2016).
We are looking to do a kitchen remodel. We plan to paint the cabinets (wood) and reconfigure the island layout. Currently there is a dishwasher and sink in the island which won’t change other than repositioned. Require new tiled backsplash and tiled floor, currently tiled, as well as new quartz countertops. Kitchen is open concept. House is Richcraft Delwood model. Pics are examples of new layout (white cabinets) and size of kitchen . Last pic is current kitchen (wood reddish stained cabinets).
1. Looking for a contractor to take care of the removal of a load bearing wall by installing jackposts and a beam to open up the kitchen to the living room dining room.
I am able to do all the prep work of removing the drywall, electrical and the non load bearing walls as well as assist in the framing work to install the beam, posts and support below the floor.
Pictures available put for some reason will not upload to this site (all properties meet their requirements)
To begin end of Jan 2012.
Hello,
I am looking for a contractor to handle our small kitchen Reno.
A frame house, very small kitchen.
Plans with measurements are ready and looking for item pricing for COMPLETE job. Budget 10 to 15k only. Please don't contact me if you're not serious about doing small jobs.
Cabinets, new flooring (wood), plumbing and fixtures, electrical, painting and finishing all must be included.
Real references needed.
Will post pics later but the main thing is to remove existing kitchen. There is a peninsula that has the sing in it. We want a galley style so plumbing would have to be moved. The stove is currently on the right side of the corner unit and we want to move it to the left.
There is a bulkhead above the cabinets that have the exhaust for the stove and the bathroom beside the kitchen. The bulkhead would have to be extended to the other wall where the stove is going.
easy access in the basement underneath the kitchen
We want to use IKEA cabinets and have a type of counter picked out. We will also need to do tiling and back splash. The one issue for the upper cabinets is IKEA has only 15inch and the bulkhead only comes out 14 inches.
Budget is around $15000 which includes the cabinets but not the appliances
We are looking for a contractor to complete the work required to install a new and expanded kitchen. Scope of work includes
- removing a wall between existing kitchen and dining area, as well as part of another wall;
- removing kitchen flooring and installing hardwood;
- refininishing hardwood throughout main level;
- enlarging a window and relocating another window;
- electrical and plumbing;
- re-insulating, drywall etc;
- backspash;
- other work as required.
Cabinet install not included in scope of work or budget.
We live in a suburban flat and we are planning on renovating our kitchen. It is approximately 20 years old, fairly small at just around 10 m2. We'd need to remove all kitchen appliances and change the tiles as well as the floor. We were thinking of panting the walls also.
As we will have new kitchen appliances, our contemporary wooden structures will not fit also, so we'd need a professional advice on how to design the kitchen according to the modern standards.
Change island
Remove wall oven cabnet
Install stove and vented microwave
Install new countertops
Add light over door exit from kitchen
Install tile flooring in three rooms
Sun room 16ft x 11ft (heated floor needed)
Kitchen 10ft x 16ft
Family room 10ft x 14ft
Note all measurements approximate.
15,9 x 9,8 inches kitchen.
The wall which is connected to the dining room wall, the fridge is located, will open to create an open concepts kitchen. Then new kitchen cabinets and the appliances including dishwasher will re-design and paint according to new space. I am going to buy new appliances that its' price do not include to this project fee.
My existing kitchen needs to be demolished and to start from scratch with new kitchen. The kitchen has two openings (north and south walls), one regular door way and a double doorway on the opposite end. One window on the east wall. The kitchen measures approx. 11.5 x 12.5. The house is 111 years old. My preferred materials are probably natural stone or quartz for the countertops and natural stone for the flooring. Plenty of cabinets, not custom however no objection to having some semi-custom. The ceilings are 12ft high. I would like to work with existing layout without removing any main walls - east, north, south or west. However an air vent in north wall needs to be reworked/moved. I require a gas stove. The house is heated by gas. Plumbing and electrical will most likely have to be moved and reworked.
Would like to move cabinets over 4-6 inches to make room for a 36 inch wide refrigerator and to hook up a water line. Current fridge is 31 inches wide. There is a bulkhead where the washing machine is and water could be directed from this line to the refrigerator. The condominium is in 234 Rideau. Cabinets are brand new. Can send picture.
Two options to fit fridge in:
1. Move all cabinets/counters over 4-6 inches
2. Remodel over fridge cabinet and counter with cabinet to fit the fridge. Counter is granite and would need to be cut.
Hope you can help me. Thanks.
I want to remove part of a structural/supporting wall and build a kitchen island. The cabinetry will be from Ikea to match the rest of the kitchen. Depending on costs, I might also want a new backsplash and/or floor. There will be some electrical work to move outlets and light switches. There's a heating vent in the wall that will have to come out through diffusers under the island cabinets.
Kitchen is in back of house (house built in early 70's) condo so can't change exterior by expanding size of kitchen.
Original countertops are still is place and need to be replaced
Lack of storage space for large kitchen items
A cupboard was taken out and now has exposed pipes that needs to be hidden
kitchen is large enough for a round table with 4 chairs
L shaped kitchen - approx. 10 x 10 (or smaller)
Large back door and window facing east allows for light
Would like to redo all kitchen cupboards(13 upper cupboard doors, 3 lower cupboard doors), backsplash ceramic tiles and put in breakfast bar with stools instead of kitchen table, more storage space for food and kitchenware (a coat closet was turned into a storage cuboard but was not built to be fully functionable)
fridge, stove and diswasher are within a triangle work area but still feels like it doesn't work well
We would like to renovate our approx. 10' x 13' kitchen, and are looking for an experienced contractor to manage the project for us. Our house is a 1960-built bungalow (believe it's a Campeau).
The project involves removal of a wall to open the kitchen to the surrounding L-shaped living/dining area, new cabinets (not necessarily custom-built) and countertops, slate flooring, installation of a hood fan and window replacement - more or less a complete overhaul. We have a design in mind and are eager to complete this fall.
Counter is L shaped approx: 10ft and 20" in length and 25" in depth with a sink in the center.
Cupboards below counter all the way.
Counters above counter measure: (1) 28" (2) around the corner and above the stove 78"
Need a double sink, marble or granite counter depending on cost, a light stained wood for the cupboards. The floor is new new and his cork.
I would be ordering IKEA cabinets and providing measurements for the kitchen.
You can expect that I would take down the old cabinets, countertop, remove the flooring and clean up.
I would require the contractor to put the IKEA cabinets together, and secure them appropriately, along with the countertop, (which is laminate). The additional work required is that there will be an opening in the wall above the dishwasher and therefore there will be some electrical work required. Plumbing is also required as the new cabinets and new sink install will change the water pipe.
There will be an additional bar, (1/2 counter top), that extends into the living room from the new opening in the wall.
I would then finish the kitchen flooring myself with Allure flooring.
Complee Kitchen make-over : New Cabinets, or refacing of cabinets
Ideas for design, to enlarge cupboard space, and better utilize present space.
New sink and countertop
New floor
Possible renovation of powder room as the kitchen and back hall floor extends into the powder room.
I am a member of DirectBuy and can buy my cabinetry &/or refacing material from them, if this decreases the cost.
I am looking for cost estimates which include all of the above and the labour.
looking for complete kitchen renovaton.. have sourced cabinets and appliances but need contractor to tear out old kitchen, move some electrical wiring to accomodate range (now a separate countertop and oven, will need to provide plug in for a freestanding range), plumbing for dishwasher. (ie removal and rough-in for the new kitchen) - cabinet installation with need to add shelving units in 2 areas.
Also looking at cork flooring but may go direclty to floor specialist for that. (or could get bid separately.
Plan granite countertops, but again, would need to go to specialist for that (or separate quote)
. House is older, with an "upgraded" kitchen in melamine cabinets, tile counter.. all to be discared,, wiring and plumbing newer but some minor modifications will be need for new kitchen layout.
We are looking to remodel our kitchen in our newly bought, semi-detached brick home in Carlington (built in 1956).
The design will involve removing a load bearing wall between the kitchen and dinning room and re-directing some ducting.
We are looking to install new cabinets, flooring and installing a hood vent that would need to be vented to the outside wall on the south side of the home. We would also like to widen the entry between the dining and living room.
The work would need to be done within a size week window between mid May to the end of June.
If you are interested, you can contact us directly at the number below. Thank you!
In my kitchen; my bulk head is 13 inches height and 13 inches width. The bulk head covers 2 walls in my kitchen.
I will install new kitchen cabinets and I would like to shorten the height of the bulk head from 13 inches to 10 inches only- Width of the bulk head can remain as is.
I also would like to extent the bulk head to cover 3 walls in the kitchen rather than 2 walls. The length of the third wall is 148 inches.
