Hey there,
I'm requiring assistance on a bit of a unique project involving my deck. Basically I'm looking to peel 6 feet (removing the decking, joists, and beam) in order to dig out proper post holes, and then re-attach the joists/decking afterwards. Long story short, the end of my deck is resting on concrete deck blocks which I want to replace with actual dug in post holes to support the beams.
I can forward you pictures of the section of the deck I'm looking to temporarily detach/re-attach as well. Email me back and let me know what I project like this might go for.
Thanks.
We need toReplace existing front porch and existing roof with a new porch, and cross gable roof.
The home is a Recently upgraded bungalow with hardboard exterior.
Preferred materials are composite decking.
No railings but 3sided wraparound steps are envisioned.
Would consider alternative designs.
Immediate construction is required as we have further outdoor developments to do this spring such as new driveways, walkways fences etc.
In NW Calgary
House is early sixties, new addition and reroofed 2011.
I have an add-on on a mobile home (height of add-on is approx. 6 1/2 feet). I need a back door installed (window is currently in that space and I undestand that the door will not be standard height) and an elevated deck approximately 8' x 8' with railing and steps into the back yard from the new back door.
Our 60 sqft deck is inset into the second story of our house, such that the deck is also the ceiling for our front room. The Duradeck coating has leaked, resulting in water damage to the ceiling below (stipple) and structural beams below. We have a civil engineering design for sister joists. The original contractor that did the estimate for the insurance company was unwilling to repair the deck surface, so we are looking for someone to take the entire job (or sub it out himself). I have photos to send to anyone interested in the work.
We are thinking to get our balcony extended and basically get the same deck/balcony type as the houses with a walkout basements. Which will fit as usually a table, chairs and of course the barbeque. We are not sure how much it may cost, so we are trying to get the quote and plan the budget and timing. Also we would like to add stairs to the balcony.
Old home (100yrs) with front porch/balcony extending up to second level balcony that is currently pourly draining and leading to rot and water damage in middle column. Base of upper balcony extends with some roofing, otherwise both balconies are all wood. We would be looking to replace both balconies however there may be an option to salvage newer exterior finishes.
A car ran through my hedge, fence and slamed into my deck. This is an insurance claim, and the parties that did the damages are paying. I am covered with intact insurance. I need 2 estimates, so i can give the insurance company 2 options. This is a big job.. the company taking on this job, must come to my house and draw up a quote to replace my upper deck, fence and give me ideas (to replace my damaged 30 year old hedge). Lets lock in this job, so the work can get done in the spring.
Have a new home which needs 1 side of a back fence which will need to be 41 feet 2 inches. A small side fence with gate which will need to be 11 feet 2 inches. The style of fense we want is fortress with pressure treated 6 x 6 posts.
We are also looking at building a deck and if possible would like the holes for the deck piles x6 dug as well or even set the posts.
Just to let you know the entry way to our back yard does narrow to 42 inches, as a fyi for machine sizes that can get to the backyard. We are on a budget so please keep cost in mind, that would be appreciated!
Thanks
I'm looking for a carpenter/framing contractor. The scope includes building a new frame enclosure around the current roofed deck (14' x 8' area) to extend the kitchen - see attached picture of the current deck. Also, build a new deck, connected to the house (14' x 13' area). Additionally, some frame fixing work in the basement as per engineering requirements.
Thanks.
Oleg

The project is on a 7 year old house and will be to add a covered front porch.
The current front porch and steps are concrete and our intent is to extend them over to the corner of the house under a roof extension that compliments the current roof-line for the attached front garage.
The front steps will be extended out for additional width and a portion of the sidewalk will need to be widened as well.
Hello,
We have a 2-story front porch and we need to replace the main level. We are considering cedar with composite decorative stone and aluminum railings. We would also want to replace the second balcony railing to match the main level. We are increasing the square footage of the main level but keeping second level the same.
Work:
Front Porch Leaking (due to missing roof membrane and no slope for drainage). Porch is built overtop of basement storage room - also acts as a roof. House was completed in 2008.
Front Porch size = approx. 10' deep by 14' wide
Demolition work:
- removal of ceramic tile, Schluter CT membrane, plywood decking and bottom row of cedar and cement board siding all around porch.
New Work:
- Add to / modify framing to provide 1" slope.
- Remove and replace mould damaged insulation as necessary.
- Remove mould from wood frame as necessary
- New exterior grade 3/4" + 1/4" plywood decking.
- Add liquid or sheet roofing membrane. Tie membrane into wall water membrane and flashing.
- Replace Schluter ceramic tile membrane (optional)
- Replace bottom row of cedar siding. Add new smart board base trim to replace cement board siding
- Optional Service: replace ceramic tile to match existing porcelain tile (Olympia Tile).
Contractor:
- Workers Compensation Board coverage
- licensed in the city of Calgary
- detailed written estimate (mould removal - if necessary - could be broken out hourly plus costs)
This is a main level deck for a walk out. I need it to be approx 10 x 14 ft. I would like finished edges and dog safe.
We have an upper deck above it and the two much function together. The upper needs some repairs but has great foundation posts.
I would like to have a set of doggy stairs from the top deck leading into a dog pen directly and only for the dogs usage. These stairs would not be the average width, as I would like to keep away from humans accessing the upper level. We would preferr treated lumber and are open for reasonable suggestions.
I'm planning to build a deck this summer and like to get quotes on two scenarios.
It will be a high-rise deck over the walkout basement. The deck size is 14' x 12', and another narrow piece, approximately 14 x 4', to connect the new deck to another existing smaller deck. So the shape of the new deck would be like a 'L'.
First scenario I like to have a quote on is only build concrete post base (may need 6) and putting a slab onto the wall (stucco exterior wall) .
second scenario I like to have a quote on is building the deck up to finishing up the joists. (I might do deck boards and railing myself as I haven't decided what type of board and railing to use). The post base need to be at least 6' deep concrete and I need to use 6 x 6 post. (Only need pressure treated lumber).
Construction of a deck for a new home, made of all weather wood, no railings, less than 24 feet tall, 186 square feet composed of two rectangular pieces (14' X 10' and 6'6" X 7') with three risers. Design to include landing coming out of the house and two risers to reach ground grade. Quote to include option of risers all around and alternate pricing for different deck materials or finishes (example: coated wood, oak, composites)
We are looking to get your input into designing our yard and deck. We require the Final plan to be drawn out with architectural drawing required to submit for building permits. We prefer to do the building ourselves but will consider hiring out certain aspects of the project. (piles for deck supports / sales of materials and delivery / ETC)
Home built in 2009 (we can provide the builders plans if that helps the process for planing) in Silverado SW Calgary AB.
We prefer a local company but will consider contacts outside Calgary for planing only.
Home is a Walkout backing onto park and green space on a cul-de-sac Pie Shaped lot. 80' across back.
More side yard then back.
Our input:
Looking for a deck design that wraps from mid side of home around back with a step up on back. Stairs to wrap off back. Its a walk out so keeping the lower ground level accessible is a must. With at least 8' clearance.
Yard to be landscaped with trees and shrubs around back and sides for privacy. We have looked into running a underground watering system ourselves but will consider Quotes.
If possible we also would like a seating area in far corner of the lot complete with outdoor wood fireplace and a ground pad placed for later hot tub installation.
The suite will be registered with the city of Calgary. The work to be done is as follows:
Heating system will be hydronics.
Install new beam(s)
New Private entry for basement suite.
Plans for both the basement and main floor.
New back entry for main floor.
Deck and patio in back yard
We are looking to have a deck installed in our back yard the size of the deck is 11' X 23', along the south side of our house, the deck will be 2' above ground and we are wanting a railing around the entire deck. We prefer pressure treated wood for the deck and railings, along with stairs on one side - we are looking for online estimates and time frames of the construction and once we narrow our choice we will want a detailed and accurate quote by the contractor visiting our home
Hi,
We're taking possession of a new home in Auburn Bay in June of 2018 and we need to have a deck built. Deck will be 14 feet wide by 12 feet deep and will be about 4 feet above ground level. Concrete pilings will be needed as well. Looking to get a quote on how much it will cost us to do it in Pressure Treated as one option and in Cedar as another option. We will need somebody to complete it as soon as possible as we do have a 3 month deadline on the completion. Thanks
