Strata building in Kitsilano has a 4 storey exterior metal staircase with peeling paint, rust and cracked tiles.
We're looking for a general contractor to:
Step 1 - remove rust, repaint the stairs,
Step 2 - replace old tiles new ones or with concrete.
Step 3 - if it's within your skillset adding a roof to it.
Based on previous roof quotes, the roof would need to be roughly 10'x10'.
The state of the stairs can be seen in the attached images.
Thank you.
Bogdan
Our project will involve 1000 - 2000 sf. of tiling work on both the floor and wall of our vancouver interior.
Currently we are in the design phase of the project and the plans include both 2" glazed
brick facing tiles as well as standard ceramic tile.
We are looking for someone who has experience with cutting and cladding brick as well
as a tiler who would be able to see through one of our projects.
What we need to go forward in this project is a cost estimate for the install of these tiles.
Thanks.
JOB #1 - Old heritage house requires a new dishwasher to be installed. Existing cabinetry needs to be modified in order to accommodate this new 18" dishwasher. Plumbing work and electrical work is required as there is currently no dishwasher in this space.
JOB #2 - Several bathroom wall tiles need to be replaced/patched.
NOTE: Jobs #1 & #2 are in the same house and same suite.
I am a new homeowner and am renovating the kitchen before I move in. I would like to install tile backsplashes between the countertop and overhead cabinets on two of the kitchen walls.
The total area being covered is approximately 36'6" square feet.
I am looking for someone able to tile the backsplashes and provide any necessary finishes on them. This job will likely also include needing to remove some drywall to attach cement board to the studs underneath. I would like the tiles to be placed in a horizontal alternating half/offset/staggered brick layout.
The tiles will be:
- ceramic
- approximately 3"x6"
- solid colour (no pattern)
- flat (no bevel)
- straight edge (not organic)
Site conditions:
- low-rise condo building
- ground-floor unit
- building was built in 1976
- all original kitchen (but I am renovating everything - flooring, paint, cabinetry, countertops, etc.)
At this point I am only looking for labour, not materials, however if someone offers sourcing/wholesale tile services in addition to installation, I am open to exploring that option.
Thank you very much for your time!
Would like quotes for replacing our kitchen backsplash. It is about 14' x 1.5' (21 square feet) and is currently black round tiles (see photos). i would like to replace with plain white subway tiles (3x6). I will supply the tiles and grout if you could bring the necessary tools.
I'm only looking for a ballpark right now to gauge affordability - so would like to avoid a site visit.
Thanks!
I can purchase the tiles as I found what I am looking for.
I need to know what your labour cost is to install them? There have never been any previous tiles so this will be a simple installation on a painted drywall surface - nothing to remove. If you email me I will send you photos so you can clearly see the area I would like to have tiled.
The length of the wall is 10' and the height of the area to be tiled is 1-foot 2 inches.
I figure no more than 20 square feet.
Thanks
Our tiling project includes 2 components as follows:
1.) Kitchen Back Splash
- This includes the install of glass chevron tiles across the kitchen
- Tiles have been purchased
2.) Fireplace Surround
- This includes a woven stone tile to be installed on the border of the fireplace (left side, right side and above)
- Also includes tiling in the small area on the floor in front of the fireplace with a stone tile
- Tiles for the above have already been purchased
Location is a condo in central Vancouver near VGH.
The work would need to be done on a weekend. The time frame we are looking for would be for later part of September or in October.
Hi, I need my kitchen backsplash area tiled. I live in a townhouse/coop but am paying for this myself. I have already purchased the tiles (white 1.5x3" tiles) from home depot and have mud, but no tile cutter. It's a kitchen corner appx 5x9' and 12-48" high (varies w window and cupboard). I am a single parent so budget is a concern, but would like a good job done. Thank you.
I have 45 square feet of kitchen wall that has just been covered in seal and stick backsplash over wonderboard. It looks so awful that I am now looking to tile over it. Please provide a quote for the job, your availability, and length of time for the job. Please note, and this is very important to me, I have debilitating chronic pain and and cannot clean up after renovation work. I need my cupboards and appliances sealed. Please know that I will respond to the first three quotes only, but I thank everyone for their responses.
Good morning I live in Vancouver I have a 65 square-foot floor tile in the kitchen that needs to be removed as well as a 28 to 30 ft. tile backsplash
I am looking for a quote
A: Labor to remove both and install both New tile for the kitchen backsplash and a cork floor
B: Labor to just install the cork floor and the kitchen tile where I would remove and patch the kitchen backsplash prior
We are moving to our new townhouse home in September and plan to redo the kitchen. We plan with a new tile flooring (~85 SF) where I do the previous demolition and provide the tiles (ceramic tiles 8"x8" or 10"x10"). We also need a plumber to connect the sink and dishwasher (connection points exist and need not be moved)
We are in the process of renovating our kitchen and having the dated formica countertops replaced in May (date TBA). Accordingly, we have since purchased backsplash tiling (4"X8" ceramic) and flooring tiles (10"X10" porcelain) both with a 10% tolerance for waste. We are seeking a contractor to remove the existing backsplash tiles (3"X3") and the cork tiled flooring with our newly purchased tiles - grouting would have to be provided as well by the contractor chosen (we can discuss what thin underlay is required under the tiling area for better tile adhesion, prevent cracking and provide sound proofing as there is an existing wood subfloor - the City of Vancouver has confirmed that if no changes are being made to the existing flooring structure, the tiles only need be "set in a mortar bed" OR "applied to a sound smooth base with a suitable adhesive). The condo (third floor) is in the South Cambie Village area and one without an exterior balcony for cutting work. The backsplash is measured at approximately 42SF and the flooring is 45.3SF. The tiling will probably occur in the third or fourth week of May after the countertops are installed (TBA).
Glass subway tile to be put in galley style kitchen.
One wall is 136" (24" high, expect behind sink is 36" high)
Other wall is 94" (24" high, except behind stove is 36")
New counter tops going in mid november, would need someone sometime after that.
Thanks,
Jen.

We need some tiling to be done in the shower of our laneway. The corner ceramic shelf needs replacing. Also, the tiled floor is not properly slanted and water doesn't drain well and in fact some pools in the middle of the shower. We would like to know what it would take to fix this. Please see photos of both problems. Thanks for your help.
I've refloored the rest of my condo. I am looking for someone to pull up the tile in the bathroom, bring the floor to level with the rest of the flooring, and then retile the bathroom floor. Bathroom is 25-30sqft. I have pulled up about 6-8" of the tile already just so we don't damage the new floors when pulling up the rest. We have sourced the tile already. The tile is roughly a foot in diameter and hexagonal shaped.
I recently purchased an apartment in downtown Vancouver. I have glass mosaic tiles framing my bathroom mirror. The wall area is approximately 54" x 48" with the frame being 4 inches. The glass tiles are damaged and have deep scratches in them. I would like to have the entire frame replaced with the same or similar tiles and re-grouted with a darker grout.
Thanks,
Angela
Hello All,
I need someone very detail oriented to come and do two tile jobs at my place. One is a backsplash in the kitchen (glass tiles) and wall tiles in the bathroom (marble) - around bathtub and chair rail behind door and toilet. Work is downtown Vancouver.
References a must.
Must want to start immediately.
I recently purchased an apartment in a Vancouver downtown strata. The building is about 10 years old. The carpets are currently torn and cut. I would like to put in new laminate floors, for the bedroom and living room, which opens into each other, with no doors. The size of the apartment is approx. 490 sq foot. For the kitchen and bathroom, I would like to run tiles, for easy cleanups. The kitchen, right now, is of laminate flooring.
We are a housing co-op and would like to resurface our playground area with resilient rubber tiles.
The area is approximately 400 ft. and is situated over our underground parking structure. This project would involve:
Removal of existing soil down to filter fabric
replace filter fabric of necessary
supply and place 6€ of granular fill and compact as per specifications for surface tile product
Please identify rubber tile product to be used. Should be 2 ft. in a thickness to accommodate 6' fall protection.
