We have done a lot of renovations in the last couple years and used many contractors and we have always been disappointed at the end for one reason or another. Typically, there was no communication or the price would change or people would just not show up when they said they would. Aspire roofings was the very first company that we dealt with that communicated date and times with up that they actually kept. There was change in the work because of our house and that was also communicated with us immediately, we were never surprised by them. The work was done as the contract said it would be and the workers were great.
I would recommend Aspire to anyone.
We chose Aspire Roofing and Renovations after getting several companies to quote on semi finishing our basement. We wanted all exterior walls insulated and finished, one room built and a ½ bath put in. We talked about the exact expectations and advised him that we work nights so we only had a 2-3 week period that the renovations could be completed with the hopes of having 1 week to enjoy our new basement. Stephen verbally guaranteed us that it would be done in 2 weeks. When he came back to sign the contract and take the first payment, the contract read that it would take 3 weeks and be completely finished in 6 weeks. We pointed that out to him and he said that he had to write some dates on the contract.
The work began on January 7, 2013. The first 2 days were great. They ripped off the old drywall and framed half the exterior walls, the room we wanted and some of the DRIcore subfloor. On the third day the electrician came in to do the wiring. They did more framing and worked a half day. Stephen then took a 4 day weekend and his worker a 3 day weekend. On the 14th and 15th the plumber came in and did the rough in for our ½ bath. On the 16th and 17th, Stephen brought in another worker and they started putting up the drywall. On the 18th the workers were left alone and the work slowed down. There were small pieces of drywall being put up on the ceiling in the room and they put a very thin layer of mud on the walls, not touching the corners or ceiling. We expressed our concerns to Stephen and he did not believe us until he came in the following Monday. Not forcing the issue of bad workmanship, since we were so behind schedule, Stephen just continued the work without repairing any of it.
Stephen had another company come in and help him with the mudding. They put on an extremely thick, 1 foot wide mud on everything making the place look more like mudding than drywall. There was mud everywhere including the floor in big globs. The painting was done and on the 26th the carpet in the room and linoleum in the ½ bath were put down.
Besides what was mentioned above there are a few other things to point out. Once the work was just about finished and painted we noticed that they had not put in the cool air return in the room. They had to open up the wall to do this since they had put insulation there. When the electrician had come back to finish with the electrical it was noticed they had put drywall over some wiring in the ½ bath and Stephen had to fish it out and finish up the electrical himself. Where the washer and dryer go we had requested that everything be behind the wall (pipes and dryer vent). As it is there is the drain from the kitchen outside the wall and behind the washer and dryer there is a 3 foot x 4 foot section with just insulation, no vapor barrier or drywall. As for the dryer vent, Stephen put aluminum semi-rigid dryer hose in the wall. The first time we used the dryer we noticed a problem. We had to open a section of the wall to find that they had put screws through the hose and all the humidity from the dryer was going into the wall. For the moment we have just taped it up but will have to open the wall more to do it properly. The ceiling in the room is uneven, there are 3 corners outside the room that were left with gaps, the drywall on the exterior walls is uneven at the ceiling (we did not want the ceiling or floors done in parts of the basement). The ½ bath was not built per the drawings. The sink was to be in the corner behind the door. It is now in the middle of the wall with about 1 foot of space to the toilet and 2 feet of empty space. Per the contract we were to have our furnace and ducts cleaned. This didn't happen on the day Stephen ordered it since we didn't realize they had to go to every vent and most of the upstairs was full of stuff from the basement. It still hasn't been done.
Stephen takes on more jobs than he can handle properly and could have done a much better job.
Stephan of Aspire was very knowledgable and professional. He helped me pick-out the materials that I liked while staying within my budget. I was so confident with his work, I left my renovations with him while I went on vacation. I am pleased with the final results.

Steve did an amazing job on our hardwood floors. He was always on time and there when he said he would be. I liked this because you always have guys taking on several jobs and whoever complains the most gets theirs done first. Steve fully completed ours before he went anywhere else. I can also attest that he is a perfectionist and will cut a board 4 times just so it sits perfect in line. The floor was layed out perfectly and there where many difficult areas to cut around and make it look right. I would highly recommend Steve to any of my friends and family.
I was very satisfied with not just the work but overall "presentation". He conducted himself with the upmost integrity and that is the key thing when employing a contractor. We originally had one contractor to take a look at our roof (we needed to repair some shingles) and right away I knew something was wrong. The original contractor gave me a quote that was very high and made it seemed like we had a serious issue. He wanted to bypass our insurance and pay him right away. So that pretty much raised flags right there. This contractor was the opposite, responded in a timely fashion and told us we didn't have a serious issue and that the overall cost should be less then half of what the original contractor quoted us for. He was also okay with the insurance process if it came to dealing with insurance. So right away this made a great overall impression. When he arrived, he was on time and was very courteous from the get go. Aside from fixing our roof, he also cleaned up as well and took the time answering our questions. There was never a communication problem. I highly recommend him to otheres. We will be using the same contractor again for future projects.
From estimating to completion their services were very good with quality products. Unfortunately, the weather (snow) prevented a magnetic search for nails which they plan to undertake in the spring. Will recommend Aspire to freinds and associates.

Aspire Renovations has received complaints from their suppliers and/or creditors
Complaint: Stephen, the owner of Aspire has proven to be extremely disorganized and lacks the level of communication necessary to facilitate smooth completion of a job. As a painting company, working for Aspire, I can say that every one of Stephen's jobs we have worked on has been disorganized and behind. We have been on numerous jobs that should have taken us days that have gone on for weeks due to poor communication, material not being on site, lack of proper sequencing and Stephen not being fully aware of whats going on on his own job. Plus Steven does not pay his contractors as he agrees. He makes excuses not to pay on-time.
These numerous issues listed above have led to Stephen being locked off a particular job, and left unpaid. Although our payment contract was with Aspire, and we had completed 90% of the work (the last 10% that couldn't be completed because locks had been changed) Stephen has not paid us, and has not adequately communicated how he was planning on resolving the issue. I had submitted an invoice on January 22nd, giving Stephen ample time to communicate with us and propose a resolution. It is now April 8th and I have been left no choice but to proceed with legal action.
