The men were very professional, punctual, and hard working. They stayed late when needed (had a day of rain to make up for) to keep within timeline of project. They actually listened to all our concerns (in my experience, most just pretend to listen then brush you off) and took good care of them. They took care of all our budget concerns, even returning excess material to help bring down costs. They were even courteous of the pets in the house.

We are very happy with the outcome. Our room looks beautiful, definitely a showpiece. It is obvious that these men are professionals and know what they're doing. We have already recommended them to family and will use them again for future projects, big and small.

They even vacuumed afterwards and cleaned the windows.

My husband and I started looking for a contractor for our renovation project in April 2018, after numerous frustrating experiences with other contractors we finally sent an invitation to CHIZLD. CHIZLD was able to meet with us and provide us with a timely quote which was within our budget and a reasonable time. We were finally able to move forward with our project.

Galen and his crew were professional and courteous through the project. He was willing to answer all of our questions as the project progressed. They were contentiousness of cleaning up after themselves daily, leaving no mess for us to have to clean up. They finished the project timely and on budget. Although we are still waiting on the glass for the shower, my husband and I could not be happier with the outcome of the project to date.

We would happily recommend them to anyone considering a renovation of their bathroom.

From the moment we met Galen and Scott, we knew we found the right professionals to help bring our main floor and kitchen renovation vision alive. Upon comparison of their estimate against other leading contractors in the area, theirs was detailed and concise, whereas we found that others contained generic/vague statements regarding pricing and sub trades. It was evident they had already put much forethought into the scope of our project. (For the record…our final invoice was only 90 CENTS off from the original estimate!)

Both Galen and Scott are incredibly talented at their trade and offer a unique combination of skillsets and craftsmanship that is difficult to find. They were unbelievably organized and meticulous; their project management experience was clearly apparent. They went to great lengths to ensure no detail was missed; for example, they noticed some of the light switches were slightly different shades of white and insisted they be changed at no charge. They proactively communicated with us on a daily basis and met all the stated timeframes. When issues arose, they swiftly implemented solutions and kept the project running seamlessly. They were brilliant creative partners and understood our overall vision very well – as the project progressed, they contributed thoughtful ideas and suggestions, and always respected our final decisions.

They were incredibly courteous, professional, and clean – they knew of some allergies in our family and installed dust curtains and vacuumed with a hepa filter every day. Galen personally cleaned our home with chemical-free cloths upon completion! They were respectful of our home and we felt comfortable around all of their crew and sub trades.

If that wasn’t enough, at no additional cost, they handcrafted the most stunning 100-year-old barn beam mantle for us, which is truly the showpiece of the entire space. We are so proud to have Chizld’s signature in our home.

These two guys have loads of integrity and are focused on doing what is right for their clients. We highly recommend Chizld Design & Construction and feel immense gratitude to have found them!

Nothing short of awesome! Scott and Galen from Chizled took on our main floor master bath remodel. From start to finish they could not have been more professional, had better communication or better results. They dealt with proactively some of the challenges found behind the walls in an old home seemingly effortlessly; had solutions to these issues and kept our project moving forward. They coordinated exceptionally well with plumbers and electricians as well as our custom cabinet people making sure no details were overlooked. Every step of the way they wanted to ensure we were pleased with how things were unfolding, were meticulous with keeping our work site neat and tidy and made sure when complete we were completely satisfied....would not hesitate to recommend these guys for any project and we look forward to working with them when we do our kitchen!

The guys were great to work with. Designed my new deck for me and while we were away for a few months they remodeled my kitchen and bathroom. Loved the end results. Galen and crew exceeded our expectations. We were very impressed with his continual follow ups and progress reports regarding the job at hand. His meticulousness translated well into the final product. He always made sure everything was done correctly and in a timely manner. Galen was always very professional, and it was easy to tell that he cared about his clients. We will definitely be using him again for future contracting work.

We had Galen and the CHIZLD team come repair our sagging floor (due to ridiculously cut joists), re-do the plumbing that cut through that floor, move and install our cast iron tub upstairs, patch the wall in the bathroom where we removed a door frame and put a rough in for a future shower.

They were friendly, punctual and professional and did a great job on our repair. They added several new joists to reinforce the floor and then leveled it. Even though our basement is a bit of a dungeon, CHIZLD made every effort to have it done right and look good. We really liked how they kept us informed throughout the week of their daily progress and were flexible to change things or explain things mid-job. The wall patch was completed with care, you would never know there was a gaping whole around the room. The plumber forgot to replace a drywall panel in our cupboard under the stairs, as it was hidden but I mentioned it to Galen and he came back to fix it. They also went out of their way to add a new tub plug and chrome pipes to the exposed tub pipes - which looks great. The plumber said he would be back next week to fix our leaky faucet nob too. I now have the peace of mind that our floor is structurally sound, I don't have to carry my bathed wet kids up a flight of stairs and we can move forward with our next reno. The only negative was the price, as these things are always more expensive than one thinks... but in the end well worth it.

We interviewed 5 contractors, and I have to say the only one who impressed me right from the start was Chizld!

We removed a wall between our living room and kitchen to open the area up and we also had a number of bulkheads removed. To look at the area now one would never know that there had been any previous structures in place.

We had a 16'x12' tiled floor removed and they were able to save the sub-floor beneath it which was in perfect condition, saving us time and money.

Their attention to the fine details and their hard work ethic was very much appreciated, and well worth the money. The quality of workmanship and on schedule timeline enabled the company who we had hired to build our cabinets for us to come in at the agreed measuring time with no delay on our delivery, and they appreciated the quality of workmanship as well.

You will not be disappointed in hiring Chizld to do your work for you, an investment well worth the money!

I had Scott put a wrap around deck on my place at the lake. That was the summer of 2012 and the deck is still as solid as the day it was built.

I had him back in 2014 to renovate the room attached to my trailer. He completely gutted the room, levelled it and put in new floor, re framed parts of it and then finished it in lap-joint cedar. It turned out beautiful and I have had many compliments on the room since.

We bought a new house in Hamilton and in 2015 had Scott build a suite in the basement. We started with cement walls and floors and Scott built our suite including kitchen and bathroom from the ground up. Again we have had many compliments on our basement.

Scott's attention to detail is second to none and I would not hesitate to recommend Scott for any job.

We asked Scott to work on turning our home into a four bedroom house in 2014. We were so happy with his work that we asked him to come back in 2016 to enclose our new master bedroom with a bathroom and renovate the bathroom. Scott is very knowledgeable and he worked with us to turn our ideas into a realistic project. He has a keen attention to detail and he always made sure we were happy with the work at each step of the project. Whenever some unexpected problem arose, he made sure to explain it right away, and found a cost effective solution. We are very pleased with Scott's work and we would recommend him in a heartbeat.

I used Chizld design to restore and add to my existing wood deck. They were very helpful in assisting with design and very professional. I would recommend Chizld Design to anyone.

When we were looking to update our front porch, I decided to give CHIZLD Design and Construction a call. Scott came to our house to listen to our thoughts on what we were trying to accomplish. He then gave us some other ideas that we had never even thought of and followed up with presenting us some pictures of what our house would look like with the different ideas that we had spoken about. This was all done free of charge before we had even signed a contract. There was no pressure whatsoever from Scott but when we decided on the application that we wanted to go ahead with, Scott came back over to complete measurements, asked more questions to ensure he had the full scope of the project covered and then said he would deliver an accurate quotation the following day. Without fail, we received our quotation that was very competitive and outlined CHIZLD's timeline.

Scott and his team were perfectionists while working on the project, took great care while working on our property, finished the project on time and cleaned up the worksite better than any other contractor I had ever hired. I receive compliments and have neighbours stop to ask who completed the work. I am always more than happy to recommend Scott and his team at CHIZLD Construction. A job well done!!!

My husband and I are lovers of old homes and have spent 10+ years restoring them to their original glory, highlighting their original features with a modern touch. It is not easy to find a contractor that shares this vision. These contractors are amazing. They were so helpful I'm finding it hard to express the gratitude that we have towards them. They explained everything in detail and when they came across an issue, they didn't assume anything. They called me right away and made sure I was comfortable with the changes to the plan. When we thought the project was done we paid them in full. Scott was not happy with a small detail on the custom made hardwood maple floors and came back several times to make sure that it was perfect, even after I had already paid. The integrity of their work makes them the ultimate professional. My wife was elated with the results. These guys weren't happy when they got paid, they were happy when the job was done to perfection.

During a very stressful home renovation, we hired Galen to complete all the finishes in our home. We have a very old, wonky, not square house, and Galen was able to make it all work by customizing every piece to fit the space. We had him replace all the door frames, and hang old doors. He got the old door knobs working aswell. Galen also installed our trim and casing around all the windows and doors, and got our old furnace vents working. Great job!

His workmanship is top notch, attention to detail second to none and he completed every task diligently and with a smile.

We would not hesitate to hire Galen again at any time for any project should the need arise
