This couple completely ripped us off. They are dishonest, insisted on full payment before the job was finished and then never showed up to finish it, constantly promised to be at the house on a certain day at a certain time and never showed up, they threatened us, they lied to us, they overcharged us. Do not have anything to do with this company. Any positive reviews you may find on them were submitted by themselves in our opinion. We lost a substantial amount of money dealing with them, not to mention the stress they put us through. Dale is a smooth talker but he is just the type of contractor you read about from Mike Holmes.
We had three things for them to do. They srewed up refinishing the hardwood floors so badly that Dale said they were irreparable. Dale said the guy he had refinishing the floors was one of the best in the business, but he obviously didn't know what he was doing because screwed up my floors BADLY. Several contractors we talked to said the guy who screwed up the floors clearly didn't know how to refinish hardwood floors. He never came good for the $$ he and Trish agreed to reimburse me for screwing up the floors. I had to get someone else, who actually knew what he was doing, to fix them. scum bag The cabinet that was being built was left unfinished, just the shell, no doors or drawers, and he said that over half the cost was in the shell. Several companies I checked with said he was a clear liar! We kept paying him, in good faith, but when he could see that all the screw ups his guys had done (and the reimbursements he agreed to and promised me because of it) were going to mean he would have to finish the work without getting paid any more, he just stopped sending them, although he and Trish both told me on the phone several times that they would send them. How do you spell cheat and liar?
My project was for a pocket door installation. I started this DIY project on my own, had the drywall removed and just wanted the new pocket door installed and new drywall put up only (no mud, primer or paint) and I would take the project forward from there.
D&T gave me a reasonable quote for labour, and offered to buy the material and charge me or I could provide the material myself. Their quote for material was a little on the high side but I gave them some slack, in the meantime I found the pocket door kit at a much better price elsewhere. Before the project started I contacted D&T and stated I wished to change the material, they balked and said they could not return their material the next day as their supplier was closed for the weekend.
When the workers arrived on site the pocket door D&T chose was of lower quality and did not have all the material necessary compared to the pocket door I sourced. This cost me more money in material.
The quality of the work was low and there were corrections I had to make myself afterwards.
After the job was finished I decided to contact D&T's supplier for a quote on the pocket door kit. It turns out it was 20% less than what D&T charged. The other material was overcharged also. I complained to D&T afterward and was told he was suppliying at cost. By my estimate This project could have been done at least 15% cheaper on material alone.
In short I was unhappy with the cost of materials, the quality of materials chosen and average quality of work for a short simple project. My advice is to source your own materials and keep an eye on the project as it progresses to ensure it's done to your wishes.
Dale did three projects for me last year. He was the lowest bidder and most importantly he was able to start the projects quickly because another project was cancelled.
Dale and his crew were amicable and they worked hard "when" they were on site. The job was scheduled for one week and ended up taking over six weeks to complete but that was my fault for paying him for labour before the job was 100% complete. There were some problems with the quality of work such as hollow door bottoms but he did fix them after only a dozen or so phone calls. I would caution people to check the ESA website before letting his "electrical guy" touch your circuits.
With D&T you get exactly what you pay for :-)
D&T Flooring was recommended to me by my real estate agent. I am currently prepping my home for sale and I hired D&T to do some work for me. The day after I called them they made an appointment to come to my home for an estimate. I was impressed with how quickly they wanted to get started on the work. The day after the estimate they were at my house ready to work. The first job was to replace the linoleum tile in my front hall and kitchen. I assumed that they would ask me to tear up the old floor and subfloor, or quote me on a price for them to do it. Instead they told me that they would lay the 1/2 inch subfloor over top of the existing floor. I found this to be very suspect, but they assured me that I would hardly notice. They couldn't have been more wrong. My kitchen and front hall is now a full inch higher than my dining room. They told me that they would put a reducer where the floors meet, but they actually put a cap which looks ridiculous and already 3 people have tripped on. They had to cap the floor at the powder room as well, which is a different colour and material from the other cap. One morning it was colder than expected so they decided to cut the tile in my home. This was extremely messy and caused me to wash all the curtains on the main floor. THey did bring a woman in to clean, although she only got about 75% of the total mess. I still have grout residue on many of the tiles that I'm not sure I will be able to get off. My stove, which used to be flush with my counter, now sits almost a full inch above the counter top. I also had them install 4 six-panel doors, two of which don"t close. They cut all four doors that they installed as well as two on the main floor that no longer closed due to the increased height of the floors. All six doors are now hollow at the bottom because they never replaced the wood filler pieces at the bottom of the doors. I also had them install baseboards throughout the house and although most of it looks good, there are two massive gaps in the stairwell that were left. I will be posting many pictures of the work. Some of them it is hard to tell the extent of the mistakes, but trust me when I say they are significant. After the work was completed, I expected the contractor, Dale Moxley, to come and take a look at the work that was done. He made no such appearance. I made a call to Dale and expressed my concerns about the work. Instead of coming to look at it himself he is sending the person who did the original work. I am very concerned that the work that was done will turn away many potential buyers.
D&T Flooring renovated 2 full bathrooms for me recently. Their workmanship was very professional. The quality of the work was outstanding. We are very pleased with the results and would recommend this company to our freinds and neighbours.
The installer was efficient, courteous and should tremendous initiative.
Thank you D&T Flooring
Mr. Moxley from D&T Flooring and his crew did a full house renovation for me in the summer of 2008 on a house I was flipping for investment, they did the following:
* Fully renovate two bathrooms
* Remove an old kitchen and install a new one
* re-finish a wood floor and wood staircase
* Finish a basement
* Paint the whole house
* Replace doors and door frames
* Tiling job and carpet installation
Also, we had flooding in the basement and Mr.Moxley took care of:
* Investigating the problem
* Finding the right team to do the excavation work from the outside
* Properly installed weeping tiles and correct drainage
* Repaired the damage caused by the flooding in the basement
During the project, D&T Flooring remained to be a reliable source of good work, completed according to the schedule and always had access to material at competitive pricing. I continue to do business with D&T Flooring.
