I love my new floors. He transformed my home beautifully and perfectly. He and his crew were professional, clean and returned everything to it's rightful place. All baseboards and doors back to place perfectly. They did extras to help out. I am very impressed. Havco Homes is my new go to people.
In 2014, Eric Havinga of Havco Homes served as the project manager and carpenter on the construction of the addition to the Sundance Beach Community Centre in the Summer Village of Sundance Beach. He not only managed the subtrades, but also provided the carpentry services, including framing, siding, and inside finishing work. Eric's professionalism and dedication to the project was excellent and he was punctual; worked quickly and accurately; and delivered quality work.
As a result of Eric's work, he was contracted to build a house for a Sundance Beach resident and the finished home was very well done, with the resident being most pleased.
I also hired Eric to complete renovations to my barn; install casings/baseboards in my farm home; and build a deck on my community hall. I was most pleased with Eric's work and plan to keep hiring him to undertake carpentry-related projects in the future.
I unreservedly recommend Eric Havinga of Havco Homes as a skilled and trusted professional.
Harold Wynne, CAO
Summer Village of Sundance Beach
Havco Homes helped us renovate the upstairs and exterior of our home. This included the removal of walls, cabinets, electrical plugs, windows, doors, plumbing and fixtures. We replaced all of our windows, and basically changed the floor plan of the whole top floor. We also changed our soffit, etc. on the exterior.
I found Eric to be very conscientious, right from the paper planning stage to the completed project. As I wanted to do some of the work myself to help offset costs (more cleanup than anything), he advised me on decisions to be made, and had things ready and done when he said he would. The quality of the work completed was great.
Eric was reliable to be at work when he said he would be, and I would definitely hire this company again should the need arise.
Eric built my new cottage from the ground up. As I designed my house with screw pile foundation, he was responsible for setting the main beams, installing the engineered flooring and roofing system as well as framing all the exterior and interior walls. It is without hesitation that I would recommend Eric for this type of work. My building inspectors were very impressed with the quality of the work. He is a very dedicated, honest and conscientious worker and is able to stick to time frames for work completed.
Havco Homes completed an interior and exterior renovation of my house. The interior renovation included new baseboard, door trim, window trim, replacement of kitchen cabinets, and hardware. The exterior renovation included new vinyl siding, and exterior trim. We are very pleased with the quality of work provided. The project manager was very clear of the expenses for the project.
This company promised to finish my basement based on pay as you go completion. The final invoice was to be itemized with explanations of all costs for sub-contractors plus the general contractors project management fees and labor for carpentry he provided. He indicated that we could choose subs as we saw fit. After his estimate we found several subs who were lower in price than his. We spent a substantial amount of time finding subs to save us money and reduce our budget. The basement was 800 sq feet and 85% to completion when he was hired. The initial deposit was made in May 2014. Work never commenced until July 2014. The job came to a halt in October 2014 uncompleted. Payments had been made for 2/3 of the final estimate. There was no communication past October 2014. In February 2015, the contractor was fired by leaving a voice mail on his phone. Tabulation of the invoices by sub indicated about $20K worth of work done. The contractor submitted an invoice for incomplete work in excess of $7K above what had been paid. No payment was made to the contractor and he filed a builders lien. This contractor failed to do many of the minimum things necessary in completing the job. The owner had to fix many problems and deficiencies not done by the contractor to include plaster issues, base boards, paint, railings, cabinets, and tile. In addition, he charged GST on top of the subs GST which had been paid. He was skimming additional money through the guise of GST payments. This contractor is bad, plain and simple. He expected an additional $7k for work that was never done, and was skimming money through the GST.
