Here's some background of my training.
I went to Germany in 1980 for 4 years to do my apprenticeship. I worked in Germany, Austria, France and Italy. After receiving my journey papers in Bavaria as a (in German-"Kachelofen Bauer"-nearest translation-Fireplace mason), I came back to Canada to work in the family business of home renovations.
After my parents retired I didn't continue with having 3-4 crews.
I decided to work alone or with a helper and keep everything simple and focus on craftsmanship instead of production.
I was featured in the Harrow smith magazine-issue Feb/March 1984
I now specialize in the reconstruction of walls, strengthening and leveling floors and finally installation of slate, marble, granite, limestone, glass tile, porcelain or ceramic tile. Also demolition and removal of existing materials.
Since then I have worked together with many highly skilled individuals each specializing in his or her own field. We sometimes work together as a team or just past work out to the person who has the skill in that particular area.
