We hired Rhinocon to clear the snow from our walkway and driveway from November 2019 to March 2020. A contract was signed and three post-dated cheques were given to the company. The first cheque was cashed.
January 18 was the first significant snowfall of the season. We expected Rhinocon to arrive within 12 hours as per the contract. It is now January 20 and we have not seen nor heard from anyone with the company. We left two phone messages. Today we stopped payment on the remaining two cheques. Unfortunately we are out the $168 from the first payment.
It is disheartening to know that people take advantage of others, but such is the case!
Hi Ross,
First off we would like to apologize for the delay in services during the storm on Saturday January 18th 2020. It was never our intention to have anyone feel like we were taking advantage of them. I know that we spoke to your wife on Monday January 20th at approx 410 pm in regards to the situation after receiving phone messages. It was explained to her that we had one truck have a mechanical breakdown and another driver in a serious accident which led us to being delayed.
We can appreciate your frustration in the matter and it was offered to your wife that we will still complete the job, as our resources had been working for 2 days to get everyone done. We understand that the delay in service did cause an issue and of course it was well outside the 12 hour time frame provided on your contract and for that we are sorry. It was never our intention to leave anyone stranded. Please be assured that your other checks have been destroyed and most certainly will not be used for any reason. We are not here to take money from anyone and purposely not provide a service to them. The contact was signed in November and this was the first time we had to come out to clear the property, so the first check that was cashed in November is paid to the company regardless of how many times we visit (that is the point of a contract) It was not cashed for any other reason. It is unfortunate that you feel you have been taken advantage of, as it was never the case.
I am glad we got to speak today and we look forward to turning our relationship with you around ! thanks again Ross !
Dave came over and gave me quote and told me what a great company it was.
I had my reservations, however after talking it over with my wife we decided to give then a try.
Biggest mistake in our life. Last Saturdays snow fall is still on the driveway, all the voice mail boxes are full, can't leave a message and no snow removal as of Monday.
Don't ever be fulled by these people again.
I'm sorry to leave a bad review and can't express how disappointed I am in Rhinocon. You promised multiple times to come to my house to complete the snow removal properly, as per our sales contract. While courteous, you didn't show up along with stopped communicating with me. I have screen shots of texts that were sent to me and then your 'ghosting'.
I gave you and your crew the benefit of the doubt after the first snow dump of the 2019-2020 winter season as there was a breakdown in communication between you and your sales person; however, my faith was misplaced. At least my son and I could clear the snow but I wonder what people who hire you for renovations would do.
Please note communication with me ONLY happened after I had left the negative review. One would think there was also plenty of notice regarding the impending snowstorm allowing for preparation and maintenance. I have no regrets cancelling my contract for the remainder of the year.
E Lee,
First off we would like to apologize for the breakdown in communication during our first storm it is our intention to be able to communicate effectively with all our customers to ensure that everyone is serviced the way they should be.
During this storm (Saturday January 18th) it is my understanding that you did speak to someone with failed attempts to have your driveway done. I know that the circumstances surrounding the delay in service was explained to you directly by the owner. We did speak with you on the phone on Monday, and even with resources still on the road you asked that you be removed from the route, which is fine. We understand that we hold a contract with you that states that snow during a normal snow fall will be cleaned within 12 hours of the accumulation, unfortunately with one truck having a mechanical failure and one driver being in a serious accident it led us to be severely delayed. This was communicated with all customers as quickly as possible. At no point was it intended for anyone to have paid for a service to which they had to do the work themselves. This is not the kind of services we provide to any of our customers. While it is your choice to post a review and we do urge our customers to be up front about their positive or negative experiences with our company, it is only fair to be able to give the full picture. We appreciate your feedback and wish you all the best.
We hired Dave and Pat owners of Rhinocon snow removal for this season. We paid for the entire season upfront. They never showed up despite multiple attempts to contact them. No response to messages. We ultimately had to hire another contractor. Terrible service and not trustworthy.
Har Juss,
First we would like to make sure it is corrected, that PAT is the owner of Rhinocon, and that Dave is our sales associate. It is our understanding that you were able to reach someone and that the situation was explained to you in detail as to why we were delayed for services, with that being said I want to make sure it is very clear that we NEVER expect our customers to pay for their season in full and do offer a payment plan (which many of our customers take)
We do want to offer our sincerest apologizes for our services being so delayed that it pushed you to contact another contractor. after the issue was explained to you we did make it clear that there was still resources on the road and would be more then happy to service you but it would be at some point within the day, that was unacceptable for you and you chose to be removed from the route right away.
While we can appreciate your frustration with the delay of service, it is certainly not fair to say we are not trustworthy ! We made sure to contact everyone at some point and make sure they were aware of the situation and to let everyone know that we would still complete everyone during the day.
We appreciate your feedback and wish you all the best
Hired Pat to do snow plowing for the 2019-2020 season. He came over and signed a contract and was very nice. The snow came, the guy never showed up nor answered his phone and never heard from him. Unbelievable, he left me in a mind as many contractors in the area are booked for the season.
Referred a couple of clients to him and all had shady communications with him and did not hire him before my incident.

A follow up to RHINOCON's response. I have attached my contract which SHOWS the job to be done Monday to Friday before 8:30am.
This is an 100% honest review of MY EXPERIENCE!
Pat agreed not to receive any payments until January 1st, 2020 to prove service can be completed and he doesn’t leave us hanging (like he did). I’m extremely happy with my decisions not to pay him a penny or else I would have been left with $200 out of pocket and trying to chase someone that doesn’t answer phone or emails.
I have evidence of phone calls and texts before and after the storm and 0 communication was given by Pat in email, phone call, or text about doing the job or even apologizing and fixing it. This was a shocking experience as I’ve never dealt with anyone like this before. I had to cancel several appointments and which costs me more money than this entire contract that that to do the job myself.
About the job I wanted him to do for the house (un-related to the snow plowing job); I booked him on Monday for a Saturday job and cancelled on Wednesday (which is ample notice) and he even thanked me for the advanced notice of cancellation.
I referred several people to him and apparently they all couldn’t get a hold of him or had a bad experience.
Hi Amir
We have a few issues with the poor review you have placed on our trusted pros account
First of all - you did meet with pat in regards to your snow clearing for the 2019 2020 season and did go over the contract with him. It was signed but no deposit for services was ever received. Which secures your place on a route for the entire season. All locations provide a payment schedule including a monetary deposit and everyone else adhered to it.once your contract was signed we never heard from you again regarding your services.
You had expressed your interest in having us complete a construction job for you that we had booked but you later cancelled and left us hanging with no further communication.
Second off you referred one person to us that we spoke with and just decided it wasn't a good fit. At no point was there a shady interaction and do not appreciate such derogatory comments
Third and lastly you did attempt to reach pat via phone calls however pat is not only an owner he is also a plow opperator and was out completing his route. We apologise that your calls were not answered immediately but by the time he received them you had decided to cancel services and did not want him to come to your service location.
With all that being said we take our business relationships seriously and can not always please everyone. Sorry you felt you were being done shady but that is not the case. We don't feel as a company that your review was honest as you left out crucial information regarding your side of the interaction. We wish you all the best of luck with your future contractor experiences
We had our basement underpinned and turned into a basement apartment Charles was awesome to deal with he walk me thru the whole process from start to the closing inspection he made many trips to my house before we even signed the contract to answer questions he didn’t take a big deposit he did small payments which we liked cause we got to see where our money was going highly recommend this bunch looking forward to getting out back yard landscaped this summer.
We hired Charles to do a fence and deck and interlock patio. They were on time and showed up every day. He walked us thru the entire job and the payment schedule. We love our new landscaped yard. We would highly recommend these guys.
