From the first moment my husband, Al, and I met Steve McInnis, of Sandbar Construction, we were impressed by his work ethic and communication skills. He is a courteous person and was focused on his task from beginning to end. He keeps his workspace neat and tidy and uses updated tools and machinery to ensure he does a great job for his clients.

Watching the deck progress and seeing the careful detailing that he gave to every job, was most encouraging. My husband observed most of the construction and was very pleased with how well Steve worked with the tools and materials. He also had young apprentices with him and proved to be excellent at teaching them new techniques and skills.

Steve has the ability to recognize that certain improvements can be made as he goes along and always discusses the reasons for adding additional hardware to the project or suggesting worthwhile changes to the job.

We will have no qualms in recommending him to our friends who are thinking of having a deck built.

We hired Sandbar Construction Inc. to rebuild and expand our 20 year old builders' grade deck. At our first meeting, Steve spent quality time with us assessing the state of the existing deck and pillars, and providing potential options for us in terms of both layout and building materials. We received his quote no more than 2 days later. He quoted us on the complete job, from tear down of the original deck to painting the posts and trim of its replacement. His quote was very detailed. The cost of each step of the process, including the cost differentials for materials were included. When we decided to do the tear-down, staining and painting of ourselves, Steve didn't blink an eye, even though it could have meant messing up his schedule.

The construction was a dream! Steve and his team did a tremendous job. The worksite was always tidy during work hours and at the end of the day. His communication with us throughout the project was excellent. For example, every day Steve took the time to talk to us and let us know where the project was at the end of his workday. If he had another project on the go at the same time, Steve let us know how that could impact our construction schedule. The reality is that Steve is so organized that we never did feel impacted by other projects. The deck was built and railings installed before we knew it.

While his quote was a bit higher (and not dramatically) than some others, he is worth every penny. Our deck is amazing compared to other cheaper decks in our neighbourhood. Steve's commitment to detail, quality workmanship and customer satisfaction makes hiring Sandbar Construction a no-brainer.

Steve and his crew did an excellent job on my project. I was impressed from the first day. Steve was the only contractor who brought his plumber on the initial visit. In contrast with other contractors who took about 20 minutes, Steve and Jason took about an hour discussing the project in detail. They had the more and better ideas about how to work with my little space.

During the project, there was a tremendous emphasis on customer satisfaction. When the sub-contractors made mistakes, Steve had them redo the work to my satisfaction. He is easygoing, professional & a good communicator. He went out of his way by offering to help me move an appliance on a weekend(It turned out to be a 3hr job). He also picked up supplies from the stores. Although the project took slightly longer than expected, I am extremely pleased with the result. The work was very well done and the end result speaks for itself. Most people's first reaction is WOW!

Overall, working with Steve was a positive experience. I'd hire him again in a heartbeat. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

We had Steve renovate a portion of our office space into two offices. One of the new spaces is a medical exam room which needed special wiring and a cabinet with a sink. All of the tradesmen Steve brought in were courteous and professional which was important as the work was done during office hours. As the building we are in is very old, they were also able to help us bring other aspects of our offices up to code. Something that would have gone unnoticed had the trademen not been alert and brought it to our attention.

Every aspect of the renovation process was clearly communicated by Steve and he welcomed any and all questions we had along the way. He also looked for ways that we could save money while not compromising on quality or safety.

We would definately use Steve and Sandbar Construction again and have not problem recommending them to others.

Although not the lowest bid, I hired Steve to remodel my old brick fireplace into a beautiful maple - faced work of art. He and I together designed the end result. My husband and I were so happy with the result we had him stay on to install a new kitchen, face 8 concrete columns in maple to match the fireplace, install new door jambs and doors, and all the baseboard and casing. He is creative, smart, a talented carpenter, and very courteous. As the owner of the property, and my own general contractor, I did a lot of the reno work myself, such as demo, laying hardwood flooring, tiling, and painting. We worked side by side for a few weeks, and he was always happy to help out in small ways and large, outside the boundaries of his own contract; such as helping with deliveries from ground floor over a 3rd floor deck to get materials into the 3rd floor unit; picking up items I needed while he was going for his own requirements; imparting tips on construction methods that made my job look professional, working concientiously with the other subcontractors, and generally just being a really solid, knowledgeable, helpful, positive presence. My job was a 3rd floor condo reno, and other residents of the building were constantly checking on progress, and quite impressed with Steve's work, and demeanor. I know he has received a few job leads to these neighbours from this job.

I will without hesitation, hire Steve for my next renovation project.
