Hello,
We would like to convert a portion of our basement to a mother-in-law type option.
We'd like to convert a large storage room, basement bedroom with it's own entrance and an existing bathroom to belong to the suite. I've attached a rough plan.
We'd love to DIY a fair bit of the finishing but the heavy lifting/trades are best left to professionals obviously. I'm curious what the ball park for something like this would run. I've seen anything from $25-50/ sqft
Notes:
- Bathroom is existing 2 piece (63"x93"). Would need to add plumbing for a tub/shower
- Ok with simple tub/shower kit
- Framing can stay in bathroom with modification to door opening location
- Would require minor electrical changes
- 90% of main area is framed and insulated, very little is dry walled
- there's existing plumbing where wet bar would go
- electrical work to move lighting etc in main area
- would like to add a window (for light, not egress). raised bungalow so plenty of room to cut above the concrete.
- planning only a wet bar with fridge, no cooking appliances, to avoid legal suite rules (this isn't for long term renters)
- top and right walls are exterior. others are interior to other areas of basement
Hi
It's fairly hard to give an accurate price on a job like this without seeing it.
Thanks

You might be playing t-ball with a ballpark of $25-$50/ sq ft and major league wish list. Is it just me or has this website become a place for tire kickers and free quotes?
