The city of Hamilton is coming to fix the curbside water shut off.

The inside shut off valve before the water meter is ceased as well.

I've heard the city is responsible for the valve before the meter, and the homeowner responsible for everything after the meter.

Does anyone know for sure.

Yes they are correct. The home owner is responsible for everything on there property.

The city is responsible all the way to your property line. To many times blame for things gets passed around.

Hello, the city is responsible for the curbside valve, everything after the property line including the valve before the meter, is usually the homeowners responsibility.

I'm a licensed plumberi Manitoba and the main shut off valve before the meter is the home owner's responsibility, it would be wise to replace it while the city crews have the water off to replace their curb stop otherwise you will be having to schedule with them and a plumber to do such repair.

I think you will find every municipality may be different, In Halton region they would replace the shutoff before the meter I do believe Hamilton is the same
