Cost for house rewire

I'm from Edmonton, I would like to know roughly how much to rewire a 1900 sq foot, 2 story home that has aluminum. The basement is wired with copper and the panel needs to be upgraded. No room for more breakers. I was thinking somewhere in the 10 - 20 thousand range?

Patrick,

Unless you have a requirement for new loads, you probably don't need to rewire. The aluminum is not a problem until you overload the circuits, which causes heat.

If you switch to all LED bulbs, you will decrease the amperage draw substantially.

If you switch to a gas stove and water heater, you will gain 30 - 50 amps more room on the panel and free up some capacity.

Hope this helps,

Andrew
