I want to get a legal finished basement constructed for my detached house. It has one car garage. The total area of the house would be 1950 Sq ft. Can anyone please give me a rough estimate of total cost for constructing the basement?

You are looking roughly at $150-200 per sqft depending on fixtures and fittings etc....

Hi there,

I am seeing responses indicating nearly $300,000 to finish your roughly 1900 square foot basement. This is completely out to lunch, honestly.

These guys are charging you the same rate as actual construction of a house!

Basement should be in the $80 per square foot range.
