Drywall damage

Hi there experts,

I had drywall delivered and when they offloaded it, they drug the drywall across the floor and it created actual gouges in the older stick type vinyl tile (along with damaging the sides of the drywall). I wasn't there, but they said that drywall couldn't have made the marks as it is so soft. There has been nothing else taken in or out of the home. Is this possible?

Thanks sooo much!

Hello Jase,

It is possible especially if dirt from there boots was on the floor at the time. If they are depressions and not actual scratches it could be from the pressure of the weight of the drywall pushing it down into the subfloor. Drywall is soft but has enough weight to damage if dragged but it will be hard to prove without before and after photos taken of your floor though. Delivery guys should know to carry it in never slide it along finished floors so if they admit they dragged it you may have recourse.
