Fuse Box Replacement

I want to replace my fuse box with a breaker panel. I'm not changing anything else. Do I need to install AFCI breakers (I heard they are required by the code for many circuits) even it is not new wiring?

Hello

You can replace your fuse box to breaker panel and have regular breakers installed and it is perfectly fine by code. If you do any new wiring (receptacles) its a must to have AFCI breaker installed. If you want to add AFCI breakers on old wiring you can do that too but not a must. I hope

This helps.

Les disjoncteurs afci ne sont pas requise en rempla ant seulement le panneau lectrique. Ils sont requis l'ajout ou au remplacement d'une prise de courant ou dans les constructions neuves.

AFCI circuit breakers are not required by replacing only the electrical panel. They are required when adding or replacing an outlet or in new construction.

It's not required when you are replacing your panel.

Dear Knez from Toronto,

You do not need to install AFCI breakers unless you are changing and outlet, etc. It is recommended that you do upgrade them for safety reasons.

Dana
