Are you able to lay new hardwood floor over old hardwood?

Yes you can. Your doors may need to be trimmed down to close properly after though.

Hi Margaret

Installing the new over the old should not be a problem. Yes, you may have to cut down a few doors and re-install quarter round all around. If your old floor is on a concrete base you may require shorter nails that will only penetrate the old wood base.

I would not recommend , that's adding a lot of height to your floor. Transitions between flooring can be a tripping hazard which looks tacky as well.

You can as long as you don't have any issue with the floor level and have to screw up the old floor probably to avoid any issue it might happen by time

Hi Margaret,

Depends of how old is the building ! There might be some floor's issues which can create problems in time.I would take off the old one , make some preparation if is needed and then install the new one .
