I am finishing part of our basement and I plan to install slim recessed LEDs. Two questions.
a) For the rough-in inspection, do I need to have the wires installed (not connected) into the driver connection box, or can they be loose at the proposed install location?
b) My clean and neat install obsession is making me want to mount the driver boxes, but they would be in the finished ceiling. My need access' thinking is the boxes should not be mounted, and there should be enough wire slack to be able to pull the driver boxes down through the hole to access the electrical connection?
For any electrical inspection they only need to see the "rough-in" for your green sticker. Trim/lights/outlets etc. always go in at end of job when ceiling/walls/cabinets etc. is finished etc. and not required to be inspected again. If they have any concerns they will tell you that a final might be needed, but it is not typical.
Inspectors want to see wires cut in to boxes and marrette connections made for the rough in inspection. Leave enough slack on the wires so the boxes can be pulled down for access.
