Looking into ceiling resilient channels for 2 layers of drywall 5/8"s. Does anyone know where I can get RC-2 channels, which is basically a more sturdy RC-1 Channel but both sides fastening to framing not 1 while the other hangs like RC-1?
Did you try csr building supplies?
No I can't help you with where you should go to get RC-2, but I can't imagine the scenario you would need anything more than the regular RC-1, if you are using roxul safe and sound insulation and resilient channel, two layers of drywall seems excessive especially 5/8" drywall. Good luck!
Skip the res bar and go with green glue. You will get a better sound proofing. http://www.greengluecompany.com/
Or go with rubber mounted hat track instead of res bar, a far superior product.
City requires 2 layers of drywall and res. channel to split my home into 2 separate units.
