Red oak natural hardwood (honey brown colour) NOT LAMINATED
I have heard of a conflicting advice as to whether I could reduce the visible scratches due to the nails of my 26 Ib dog.
I need a product to cover/seal/reduce the tiny scratches. Something is better than nothing! URGENT
Any advice from a professional?
Thanks
Hi Martin,
Have you tried Olive Oil? Very good for a temporary fix.
If you want the Professional solution, get rid of the dog or cover the floors with rugs. Dogs and hard wood floors are not a good mix. Even if you refinish the floors, the dog will still be there to ruin them. Decide what is more important, shiny floors or dog ownership.
Good luck with your project.
Andrew
Polyurethane coated hardwood floors, regardless of quality will show scratches because the light is reflected differently through the scratch than the surrounding area, its unavoidable. We have had lots of success for our dog loving customers using natural oil products instead of polyurethanes. 'Distressed' floors are becoming very popular as many people appreciate the fact that wood floors are beautiful, safe, anti-allergen and hard wearing. Natural oil finishes can strengthen your wood, are a matte finish and hide scratches the best. Floors are really the most used surface in any environment because we cannot use anything else without using the floor! Hardwood is renewable with sanding and is by far the best choice for longevity. Money well spent!
