How do you properly seal the sump pump in the basement?
Adding rubber gasket around the bottom of the lid that sits on the sump, and silicone seal the drain pipe gap should do the trick.
Hi Sarah,
I am assuming you meant the sump pump cover. It should have come with a built-in seal or an external seal. Once you tighten down the bolts it should be air tight. You should not use caulking or any permanent measure as the sump pump and pit should be inspected periodically.
Are you having bad odors in the vicinity of the sump pump? Miguel.
Claudio is right on, clamp it down after adding a gasket, and caulk it with good silicone. Also make sure its working by pouring water in the hole, and clean it out once or twice a year, check back up battery power if you have it. If not, might need to get one!!
