What is a suitable supporting structure for a back door landing and steps?

I have a back door landing (3ft x 3ft) and stairs (2 steps) that needs to be replaced. Currently it is built on top of a pair of L shaped frames that are bolted to the house. See pictures.

Can I do the rebuild on top of this existing frame (it seems secure) or would it be better to start from scratch and do a complete rebuild from the ground up.

The existing support structure just seems like it wasn't done right. But I really have no idea.

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Richard

If its solid and well attached you should be good to go. My only question is if it could be a code issue in your area.
