Rusted Cast Iron Tub

I found a beautiful but extremely rusted cast iron tub. The rust is on the outside of the tub. Is there any way to get the rust off?

The best way to remove the rust is to sand blast the bathtub and have it refinished.
They look amazing after they are all completed. You can look for a bathtub refinishing company in your area that should be able to help you out with that.

They do look great when restored: a very nice historical look I do admit. The cost sometimes is more to refinish these tubs than it is to purchase a modern version of the same thing (you will need to purchase a particular type of faucet for it too so keep that in mind). Weigh your options before having it refinished. If your bathroom design simply needs it to be perfect then that's a different focus and you should do what you feel you need to do to capture the design you like.
